Wild Irish Love

May your love for me
always be
as stormy as an Irish sea.
I want no gentle ride
I wish for no small swell,
I've been safely drifting for too long.

May my love for you
always be
as sure as the setting sun.
As steady as a spring rain
a balm to your scorched plain.

You bring the wild,
I'll bring the sweet.
You be my rose,
I'll be your thorn.
I will be the sweet smile
as you swig down what makes you burn.

Battle Cry

When I think of you of you
my heart sings a battle cry,
you and no other my love
I never ask the cosmos why.

I charge forth so sure in my truth
I don't ask if it's just me
who feels the heat
or am I going to be another casualty.

Lighthouse

I felt as though I was all alone
set adrift on a lonely sea.
I had to learned to steer my boat
and to sail ever so cautiously.
Then one day I came to learn
I had been deaf to a gentle cry,
through the fog I finally heard
you softly calling to me
sweeter than a lover's lie.

Come to me, come to me,
I followed your voice
like a hunter on a scent.
I'm coming, I'm coming
please don't let me forget.

And so I landed near my lighthouse,
you brought me safely to shore.

Memories

I keep all my memories of you
locked up in a box
filmy layers of dust and grime
cover the proof of my crime
kept and treasured disposable roses
and brittle dry proses.
I keep all my memories of you
locked up in a box
hidden in my closet
surrounded by precious books
and empty bottles
it fits in with the clutterness.
I keep all my poems of you
locked up inside my heart
they run around and make
my fingertips tingle.
Words form as I turn away
from the paper
why put into words what I
keep locked inside a box?

Lunch Plus One

Our conversations come so easy
a laugh here, a plot there
an innocent table falling victim
to our overheated exchanges.

We had 10 lessons to learn,
needing them to settle deep inside.
9 months to forgive myself
for the 8 months I squandered.

What a joy to watch the shy one
share 7 salacious secrets
and our brave ones change
their world with 6 simple words.

Times change, 5 becomes 4
then it will be 3
and we will be back at the start.
Now 2 days a week
I'll wish for a lunch plus 1.

St Dymphna

Your jealousy is the foundation of my church.
St. Peter has never had such a devoted follower
as St. Dymphna does.
You fail to see how my eyes follow you,
you forget it is you who steals my thoughts.

Let me fly free,
throw me in the ocean,
always, always my heart
will I find my way back to you.

Chain me, bind me, lock me away
it matters naught.
Because of you I know why
men in prison sing.
They've had a taste of love
and I've had the whole dang meal.

Rocks Late At Night

Stonehenge, upon first glance,
Rocks placed so carefully,
Smaller than you realize
Too close to people.
She seems too simple
An arch here
A fallen stone onto
Neatly cropped grass,
A clean path laid too close
A rope to keep us away.

How is it, in my minds eye,
She seems so vast?
As if I could wander
Between columns, lay upon stone,
Watch stars chase stars
And then still have more?

Lets abandon this place
As should be.
She cries out for neglect
She longs for the moss sodden
Land to reclaim her.
Her purpose was to raise
Our eyes to the heavens
And remind us that our
Feet are rooted in earth.

Known Stranger

Today I woke up smiling
I was dreaming of you,
you were an unexpected ally
immediately possessive
loud, obnoxious and mine.

They say you don't dream of strangers
so somewhere I have met you,
somewhere I have heard your laugh,
somehow I know where your
favorite place to kiss me will be.

I want you to know I'm ready.
I'm ready for your passion.
Come find me if you dare.

Treys Laughter

I made you laugh.
A real laugh.
It made my stomach flutter.
Such a small thing yet it made me,
in that brief moment,
fall in love with you.
You were bright and happy,
your cynicism lessened.

Don't worry,
you came back and I landed
softly back to reality.

Is it a good thing that I'm learning
to not to be hurt and
stuff the love back down?

Oh how I could love you if you let me.

Kisses

Soft kisses, sweet kisses.
How hungry he is for them.
He sees the smile curling from her lips
and he wants to taste its flavor.
He wants to kiss the crook of her smile,
the real one she shares when nobody is looking.

He awakes, his mouth already wet
tasting rough kisses.
He can feel her heartbeating
frantically against his chest,
his mouth stealing her breath
as her hands clutch him close
one more kiss closer to death.

He is like a found man
renewing himself by the simple act
of melding mouth to mouth.
Take me in he prays,
swallow me and let me nourish you.
Lovely girl, his lust sings
hear me and when you next open your eyes
you will look at me with wonder instead of fear.

When he fully awakens it is to her last gasp of fight
he raises his head to see her love
and finds his kiss went lower than her mouth
and he has welcomed a new love to the night.
