Dry Your Tears

With a ragged bag and a sack, I am leaving you to chase a dream…
Dry your tears, my dear; no more wail. No more songs of grief,
No more tired bones and tired soul. Just dry your tears.
How mother died awhile ago and father stayed, and made us howl
Like ghastly wolf, a creature of the night. The food we scrounged on
The floor, when your tummy cried… my eyes cried.
But dry your tears little one… just dry your tears,
I have words in a bag, a dream in a sack. I have stories and novels
Poems and tears. Remember the sweater I gave you, when even fury dogs
Would freeze? I lied when I said ‘I felt heat, I just ate or I just smiled – you missed it.’
Close your eyes, and do not stare at my back, not tattoos, just
Scars on my back, disfigurements I wear.
But dry your tears little one… just dry your tears.
Hold on! Even when wolves are circling, knaves are preying
And God is loping deaf. There are stars and there are blooms that
Even we shall see. Just dry your tears my little one… just dry your tears.

The Fears I Have

I fear, I will not be enough for that world outside,
I will not measure up to that who they expect me to be, want me to be.
I fear the one I breathe… the one I see, will only see another.
I fear for these faults I have, these weaknesses… those flaws.
Who will cherish, who will want… those flaws I have?
I fear, for my weigh on a machine...
It says repellent, it says obese
I fear, for my length on scale…
It says unattractive, it says midget
I fear the night, how I prefer the light instead, the bright instead
Those owls and rats and bats; those foul creatures of the night.
I fear the world, will misunderstand these thoughts I have
Misinterpret these ideas I have.
I fear the world will not appreciate;
Those hours on the mirror, those rivers I sweat.
I fear I shall not attain those goals I have, those dreams I dream
My enemies will prosper, while misery and despair are paired with me
I fear they will change my parts… make me into a thing with no heart
A thing with no face… and look down on my race!
I fear the questions I have, the doubts I have
But more than ore, I fear I shall die before I live,
I fear I shall not live till I die!

Dearest Dorothy

Dearest, do you make flowers bloom in the days
And meet angels in the nights?

I heard beauty lives upon your face,
But not beauty of sufficient end…
Beauty of natural depth

They say, your mind too kind to exist with hate
Your eyes too bright to see the dark

But beloved, will you gaze upon your heart and find me there?
Will you gaze upon your mind and dream me there?

Upon these eyes, gaze awhile, dream awhile
For longer than awhile… my eyes will die

Letters To Angels

Dear angels, I must now be lost… no longer can I find my way
I must be blind… no longer can I see a-ray
Vultures set to dine, and enemies are in line.

Dear angels, I met one like you… I loved one like you
but the one who steals; stole her from me
the one who steals, laughs at me.

Dear angels, I kissed her lips… they made me be
and gazing at her made me see
but still, the one who kills; killed and gorged her heart.

Dear angels, I no longer afford to seem or dream
my throat thirst… and look, my skin is now crust
her loved ones are dark at me, salt at me…

Dear angels, I now envy the dogs who bark at sky.
Who have no knowledge about the one who steals,
Dear angels, oh hear me now… I need her, I need her now!

My dear angel, I know you live
My dear angel, I write to you
I know the one who steals… is away fom you
I know the one who gives… is next to you.
Tell him, I’ cum for you!
