Dancing In the Dark

It’s like a secret dance in the dark,
only you know.
Where nothing can be exposed;
the lies, the cheats, nothing.
When you wake up, you can feel.
You can free your soul
from the box that it’s trapped.
Is there room to cry?

When you dance in the dark,
engulfed by blackness
the quiet words lead you in.
Hush,
don’t let anyone hear you.
If they do,
they might know your secrets.

Someday

Moments away
from what could have been.
The pain of tomorrow,
the mistakes of the past
can we say goodbye
to those moments?
To let the tears fall
without regrets.
To feel it in your heart
to know you've done your best,
isn't that enough?
Even when it's too cold and you can feel it
remember,
the good times
you will go back to
someday...

What It Takes

The steps to love,
now what does it take?
There must be a move
and there will be mistakes.
Destined to find your only one
nowhere to hide,
nowhere to run.

Must find the strength
deep from within
it's hidden with care
deep, from the sins.

Those three little words
once meant so much
they now bring hurt,
with no soothing touch.

The steps to love,
now what does it take?
it must be a lot,
it might make you break...

Darkness Crawls

Deep in the shadows
night, it falls.
Lurking silently
as darkness crawls.
Into sight and out of mind,
all trace of light is left behind.
The clouds roll in
no stars in sight,
ready for
the sleepless night.

Tomorrow is far
it’s easy to see,
farther away
than you’d like it to be.
Making it through,
It’s too much to ask
when you’re hiding behind,
that well thought out mask.

Deep in the shadows
night, it falls.
Lurking silently,
as darkness crawls…

Blue Sky

Blue sky,
we thought everything was fine
but in truth,
nothing was.
It was a story,
a small story that will never return.
Breaking your world slowly
into tiny pieces.
Can't seem to see tomorrow
through this black haze.
Helpless
crumbling
as the days go by.
Ripped apart by the hand of love
with nothing left to do but look.
Blue sky.

Sinking

Memories,
you leave me breathless
with every passing one.
It's sinking in
that they are gone.
Passed by
like the ticking second
on an erratic clock.

I know somehow
I'll get my happy ending
but thoughts linger in the past,
on all these memories.
Dragging me down,
without a lifejacket
again and again,
impossible to let go...

Tell Me Why

Tell me why
we all have to suffer,
when there's so much good.
Tell me why
people make those choices
that aren't good for them.
Tell me why
this world is filled with lies
when it's easier to tell the truth.
Tell me why
it spirals out of control
so quickly.
Tell me why...
because I don't understand.

Tomorrow

We were always looking at tomorrow
when we should have been watching today.
It's hard to see how much we missed,
someone's love
someone's tears.
Looking only to the future,
we missed it all.
These precious memories
left behind
to become ashes of the past,
never knowing
how much we needed them to stay sane.

The smile that's lacking
I want to see it,
I need to see it,
why can't I see it?
Desperate for something real,
grasping onto a fake reality.
Living in a fantasy world
where everything will be okay.

Untitled

To believe or not,
which will it be?
That everything can be good,
is it too much to wish for?
It’s always easier
to just keep running
but isn’t it tiring?
Breakaway.

Stars

Up in the sky
the stars glitter
with a thousand stories,
seen it all.

Looking down on you
with their eternal light,
a bond that will never fade.
Floating gently in the night sky,
there to assure you that everything is okay.
That even when unsure,
you have to believe
there can still be a miracle.
