Weeping Angels

WEEPING ANGELS

i dreamed i heard the angels weep
an then they began to sing

a melody so soft and sweet
one must have a broken wing

but the first thing i should have thought
from the very start

is that somewhere in the world tonight
there lies a broken heart

the pain that comes when a love is lost
cuts well below the skin

we cry ourselfs asleep for nights
then start our lives again

the thing that we must not forget
and in these words i trust

is that somewhere in this world of ours
a true love waits for us

The Gentle Soul

THE GENTLE SOUL

   so many roads i've traveled
so many years i've roamed

when will this tired gentle soul
ever find himself a home

i've lived my life so peaceably
no one have i harmed

where is the soul mate that i seek
to wrap in loving arms

i believe that only time will tell
the reason i have to wait

or maybe i am one of those
with lonliness as my fate

but i'll keep on hoping and wishing
and continue with my search

and be the gentle soul i am
while i still walk the earth

No Place Like Home

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

would you like to hear a story, that grandma once told
its about an old train, that grandpa once rode

the story starts out when my grandpa was young
he had reached the age that the fever begun

but its the kind of fever that won't make you ill
its when you must travel somewhere, you just can't stay still

he had seen many times, the smoke far away
it came every week, and on the same day

it was that train from the east, kansas is where it was from
headed west hauling wheat, and chasing the sun

that fever inside him would not let him be
it was that train an the mountains, he just had to see

it was then that he saw the train, come over the hill
as the ground shook beneth him,a never befor felt thrill

as it came up the next hill, it slowed to a pace
that he might run beside it, but it would be a foot race

then he tried to grab on, his hand started to slip
as his feet druged the gravel, he must find a good grip

then he pulled himself up, and felt he had won
excited and scared, his journey now had begun

on top of the boxcar, he could finally see
the tips of the mountains, he said calling for me

now as he got closer, to his big surprise
the mountains it seems, reach clear to the sky

now as the train climed, he looked down some roads
he started to notice, it was now getting cold

the wind had now changed, an the stack blowing out smoke
was shooting rite in his face, as he began now to choke

he thought to himself that this cannot last
the wind will change, when we go through the next pass

with it getting colder an colder, he started to shake
not thinking this out, was a major mistake

so now he was freezing an stuck on the car
not knowing for how long, not knowing how far

all he could think of, is when will it end
so he could go home to his family and friends

now as he was praying, the train headed down hill
could this be a miracle, clean cloths an hot meal

yes the train finally stopped, and grandpa jumped down
he was just on the edge of a old mining town

he decided to walk, find some place to get warm
wearing cloths that were dirty, smelly an torn

with no money or friends here to help him out
looking so pitiful as he roamed all about

now a lady had seen him, an said son whats your name
your not from this town, have you been riding that train

come into the house now, an have a seat
i'll get you warmed up, an cleaned up, an something to eat

i can see young man that you've had quete a day
but we must phone your family, let them know your ok

now he thought to himself, it was no fun to roam
so he made the phone call, an he asked to come home

now when grandma first told this story to me
she did for a reason, so that i might see

she knows the fever can grab you, and you'll want to roam
then you'll find out the hard way, thats there's no place like home

My Dear Late Wife

MY DEAR LATE WIFE

i was a island in a sea of lonliness
pounded by waves on all 4 sides

all our friends have acended to a far better place
and my youth has now far passed me by

but on the horizon i spotted a ship
a vessel to rescue me

it came in the form of 2 adults an 2 kids
it was our daughter and her family

i now have a reason to carry on
i look forword to a new day

i only wish that you could be with me now
because i miss you in every way

but don't worry darlin i'll be with you soon
when my work here is finally done

then the angels will come an call out my name
an we'll once again be together as one

The Robe

THE ROBE

i sat down by the city gate
to watch the people passing by

it must have been about midday
judging by the sun up in the sky

then out of nowhere darkness fell
what happened to the sun

then came thunder, lightning an hail
and the crowd began to run

i have never seen a storm so fierce
as the one i saw this day

so i stopped a roman soldier
to find out what he would say

he said that up there on the hill
3 men were crucified

the storm rolled in the very moment
the one called christ had died

he said that he now believed
christ was the son of god

   coming from a roman soldier
this statment seemed so odd

as he said these strange words to me
there were teers in his eyes

it was the first time i've ever seen
a roman soldier cry

he took the robe that he was carrying
and gave the robe to me

he said the robe belonged to christ
please treat it properly

of the heavy rain that fell on me
fallen from the sky

this robe of christ in my arms
still some how felt so dry

i could fill all this power now
flowing through this robe

i know that its not mine to keep
i must find its proper home

you need not even meet this man
to truely believe

he was christ our lord, king of kings
this man from galalee

So-Precious

SO-PRECIOUS

here she sits in the hospital again
it seems her test will never end

she'll bend and sway like a mighty oak
but never break, so full of hope

   she inspires everyone she meets
what hair is left she keeps so neat

todays new test will be over soon
then the staff will take her back to her room

but the stars at night are brighter now
and with the morning comes the sun

with all the new treatments and people who care
we have the illness on the run

if you would ever meet a child like this
it would be a moment that you would hold dear

but prepare yourself, you'll soon be like me
a local hospital vollunteer
