The Gravel Road

One cool summer morning while running upon the gravel road
I listen as the birds happily chirp upon the branches
I imagine myself as a bird
I would fly high above the trees and soar carefree
I would then sit upon a branch with other birds and watch people labor
People are like honey bees constantly working never grasping the beauty around
On this cool summer day I was a bird and enjoyed the beauty of forest surrounding me
I sat upon a branch and noticed a little green centipede snack upon the soft green leaves attached to my branch
While soaring above the earth I felt the wind upon my wings and I felt the warmth of the sun upon my feathery back
However my happiness ended with the crunch of the gravel upon my shoes
I am human again, at the end of the gravel road
But once I was a bird…

Sunshine

As golden beams of warmth and brightness vibrate from the sun,
Your smiles lights my way.
Your laughter is as sweet as delightful candy covered apples at a carnival.
The love you bring to my heart is as pure as the first December’s snow.
Pride unleashes from my heart as I watch you play.
The joyful giggles of my sunshine fill my home with warmth, as the sunshine warms the earth.
My heart strings pull when my sunshine whispers the words, “I love you.”
I cherish the memories of when my sunshine was but a bud in bloom.
Those memories are as rare as the sight hummingbird still upon a bloom.
The warmth of the sunshine seeps within my soul with every embrace.
For your smile I would face the chill of the rain and for your love I would cross around the world.
My home will always be filled with the warmth and happiness from my sunshine even when it leaves me to brighten another home.

Loneliness

Days turn to nights yet where are you my love
Next to me you sit...
You see not with your heart and you are deaf to my words
Alone to waltz...Loneliness is my companion
An impenetrable barricade stands between us separating our love
Two roads assembled in your view
One long road assures difficulty but in the trees buds bloom with promise of beauty and life
The short road offers the concealment in the darkness, temptations, and sinful delights
Blinded by enticement darkness over shadows the light
Illness in our hearts demolish the goodness
Loneliness saturates my most cherished desires
Desires remain smothered in your hands
Loneliness, release my soul
My tattered heart can take no additional sorrow
Love is but a false promise that tears into one’s being
The fire that once kindled your soul for me is now but glaciers of ice clogging your veins
Death is but a dream compared to the agony of exhausting your affection for me….
