As I Lay Down To Sleep

As I Lay Down to Sleep

As I lay down and pray
I think of all the good things that happened today

Not a day goes by that I try to do my best
I want to please the lord above all the rest

Wonder if this is my last night
Morning comes and I will not see the morning light

Could only hope that I did all the right things
Left my family in order before I see my KING

We never know the place or the time
Before our saviour calls us home, could be the last rhyme

Guess its only human to think about death
But oh well have to get some sleep, take a deep breath

My Cousin's Wedding

My Cousin's Wedding

Weddings happen here by the dozen
All are fun, especially if a cousin

Get a new outfit, have to look good in the croud
Make the best of the time that is allowed

The bride and groom get set for the night
Alot of time and money go into making sure all goes right

The ceremony is over, the bride and groom set out
The pastor calls them back , marriage license not signed, he shouts (hehe)

The right combination of people, music make a good reception
Where is the beer, head in that direction

Written on the cozie "I'm here for the free beer"
Laughing so much, has us in tears

So many relatives, which kid is for who
Can't remember names, faces will do

The dance floor is open, get out there and shake your booty
Go ahead, get a little fruity

Uncle Johnny does the alligator on the dance floor
Down on the floor, joined by more

It doesn't stop there, the bride leads the pirogue
Like a train behind her, a long line unfolds

Family, friends, togetherness like no other
Before nights end, you will know many others

Circle of Life

Circle of Life

A baby is born, there is so much happiness
A day to rejoice, so much joyfullness
A tear is shed for receiving this blessedness
Thank you lord for a gift of lovelines

There is a day of sorrow and pain
The last breath of a loved one passed on again
A tear is shed falling down like rain
Finding comfort in the afterlife, hope remains

A father, a mother, brother and sister
Generations lived on from one to another
I am in you and you in me
Forever bonded till eternity

Life is a gift not to be taken for granted
Sow love, hugs, and kisses, firmly planted
A circle of unity we are joined as one
The beginning, the end, a new life has begun

Naked As a Chicken

Naked As A Chicken

Clock on wall, Tic Tock Tic Tock
Excitement in the air
Where is my makeup

Giggling, Laughing, Who are you
Music Loud, Dancing, Swaying
Just want a good beer buzz

Ouch! Loud alarm goes off
Bed Soft, wrapped in blanket
Where are my clothes

Home Is Where the Heart Is

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Oh my goodness
"Lets Party, Family Reunion"
Family of 10

Its all good, we stay close knit
Look forward to cookouts
Mardi Gras here is a big hit

Our seafood is the best, fresh from the bayou
My moms the best cook
Shrimp boulettes, jambalaya, just to name a few

Born on the bayou, its in my blood
Could never leave here
Louisiana is where I spent my girlhood

My Endless Love

My Endless Love

We were kids when we first met
A love that we would never forget

We knew our love would grow as time went by
Time was on our side, the limit was the sky

The love we share so strong and free
God has given this gift to me

My true love stands by my side
Together we stand, no one can divide

So much love we had to share
Two daughters greated by us, nothing compares

Still oh, how this loves grows
My heart overwhelmes, only he knows

Our children look at us and desire this same love
Marriage and children, given from above

So the lord answers, and gives my daughters these gifts
Husband and grandchildren , my heart uplifts

Thirty-one years later, our love is like gold
We see each other grow as we grow old

My endless love, my husband, my friend
The Lord will keep us together until the end

The end meaning everything past this life
You will forever be my husband and I your wife

No Farting Allowed

No farting allowed

Let me see
Will I come out in tries one, two or three

She sits on the bowl, straining, oh lord
I won't come out, its so hard

Constipation, its a mess
Come out, come out, I won't settle for less

Finally feeling the poop, I'm almost out
Ha Ha tricked you, a fart, she shouts

Ok, ok, i will settle your stress
Ploop in the bowl, time to swim I guess

Space

Space

A woman knows when she needs her space
Now and then, she has to embrace

The space where the mind has to go
The place where your spirit can just flow

Could be a night to put on them dancing shoes
Dance the night away, let it all loose

Could be a night for some peaceful escape
Relax to your own personal dreamscape

Whatever your space, feel the ease
Good for the soul, tension release

Letting Your Hair Down

Letting Your Hair Down

Looking to sit back and enjoy the day
Aiming for the patio table, our little get away

Kick off the shoes and sit with the family
Share todays news and laughing happily

And you know we have to have that ice cold beer
Best way to chill out over here

The neighbors wave and sometimes sit to chat
Our home is like a big welcome mat

Before you know it, here comes out the barbecue pit
The more the better, I must admit

Home is where you can just relax and do nothing
Its when best memories are made and lots of good loving

Doesn't cost nothing to just enjoy and rest
This is when we are the happiest

Let your hair down and take a little time
Do this often and learn to unwind

Connecting the Dots

Connecting The Dots

Being at the young age of only five
Little did I know how time would fly

Back then I wanted to be a nun
Everything was possible under the sun

Always kept a smile along the way
Only by the protection of God I am here today

Gathered many friends along the way
Is their love as deep as mine, I hope so I pray

Can we teach each other on how to treat others
Respect the elders, the children, the fathers and the mothers

Today is still here, its not too late
Open your heart and learn to appreciate

What is your purpose, are you on track
Move forward, seldom look back

Hope you enjoyed my poem alot
If you did, we've connected dots

This is the closes I will get to being a nun
Still believing everything is possible under the sun
