Makada Duncan Poem
This is for the boy
That thinks he’s grown.
This is for him that
Learns to fight on his own.
This is for the boy
That feels the pressures of the worl’.
And for him that has
No respect for girl.
This is for the boy
That has many confessions.
This is for him that
Is pushed in too many directions.
This is for the boy
That feels misunderstood
Because he thought he wasn’t enough
Of a man to have a father that was good.
This is for children of every race.
The only thing they want
From their father
Is to see his face.

Makada Duncan Poem
I’m sorry that I loved you
And that you didn’t love me.
I’m sorry you weren’t good enough
To be there for me.
I’m sorry you were ashamed
Of our life.
And you didn’t respect me
As your wife.
Now, I’m over you
And you want to come back to me.
Say that you’re wrong
And that you’re sorry.
Well, I’m now the one that’s sorry
And this is true.
I’m sorry I ever wasted
My time over you.

Makada Duncan Poem
In school by herself,
Working and talking with nobody else.
All alone in this worl’
Is a young black girl.
She is ignored and mistreated,
by the teachers and students alike.
If people see her they judge her,
and spray paint profanity on her bike.
She's still happy.
Determined that her dreams will come true.
Fearing nothing but fear itself,
this girl is angry at nobody but herself.
Angry, angry, angry.
Because of being a woman.
Because of the color of her skin.
But, yet this girl is determined to win.
She takes no stress and tries her best.
Not because she's a black woman
that wants to have fun,
But because she is determined to be someone.

Makada Duncan Poem
I’m tired of the lies
And all the frustration.
I don’t want love
If it means frustration.
I’m tired of you trying
To hold me down.
If you want a real friend
Quit kidding around.
I’m tired of playing
Playing games is not for me,
If you don‘t want my love
Just set me free.
I’m tired of waiting
For you to see
That I’m tired of you
Treating me selfishly.
If you think that I’m joking
You must be joking too.
To put it simply
I’m just tired of you.

Makada Duncan Poem
I know I can do it
Because I’ve tried my best
And I know I’m better
Than the rest.
I’m capable of anything
All I have to do is try
Though, the competition is strong
I can’t deny.
But I believe in myself
Yes I believe in me
I have faith
That one day victory I will see.
To the young ones out there
I encourage you follow your dreams as I did
And don’t ever let anyone say:
“You’re just kid.”
