Mouse Or Men

In a labyrinth, the heart reveals its beauty,
its center a mystery.
The belly of the beast must be full of devastation.
It still hungers for more, tasting its last prey.
Soon it will stop and there will be silence.
Shivering in the corner, like a mouse captured by the light.
Caught in its betrayal, like a thief before the jury.
Exposing scars, beating rhythm in the heart.

Life's Struggle and Limits

One day our ship will port in a place of peace and wonder.
Abaft facing the wind and sails at rest.
Limp from its journey, tired and sunder. The bolt rope holding it together.
pushing stead course toward its mark breaking every crest.
awaiting to reach its voyage end, brails to pull along the way.
The shore that limits the journey stay.

Lost Love

I have no memory of its companionship.
Solace gloom surrounds me, slipping away in the distance.
Lost forever, never to find it, only a shadow of what was.
Words never to be spoken again.
The silence, suffocating me while being romanced.
As a bride who lost her husband on the wedding day.
Empty covered bottles, never to be filled, collecting dust.
Taking me further away, without being close.
Searching for happiness, never to be found.

Christmas Turned Holiday

Christmas,Holiday, George Maris
The angels were singing, hallelujah.
The people were crying, don't let them fool ya.
The manger was turned,
The barn was burned.
Three kings left a stray, when Christmas was called a holiday.
Store keepers frown, there is no crown and songs they did not play. Caesar was content with the people's money they spent.
When Christmas turned to a Holiday.

The Giant

What Goliath have I created, and magnified nearly tripling it's size.
My wounds are already afflicted before I charge.
What grief has caused me not to rise?
My heart is heavy with such despair, a burden heavy and large.
I lay down my sword because the weight,
yet it is the very means of my defeat.
It's time to rise from my knees, stand strong and straight.
My courage is not in my hands but in my heart.
it's time to play my part, face that giant and really see, he's much smaller than me.
Cast him down so that I can pass and continue on my journey at last.

Catholic School

I was taught to run,
to shun, avoid.
My falling down, my scrapped knee was the punishment of my betrayal.
I suffered guilt for having too much,
shame for too little.
Love was earned through penitence,
some of those and these,
by rosaries
The notebooks were in order,
the same as my attire.
Sister this and farther that, never speaking out of turn,
for our souls would surely burn.
Traditional replies, with repetitive lies,
blackboards, rulers, skirts, and shirts.
We all looked the same,
In Catholic School

Life Support

The church has given up on me.
Giants of bureaucrats sit on their thrones
Referred to as justice
They have their agendas
Call it by any other name
I call it prejudice.
No family to call my own
Empty mansions
Unoccupied rooms
The halls are empty
My car has no passengers
I live alone,
drive alone
dine alone
die alone
In death, they’ll be no contending
my last rights
No one to mourn over my remains
Sad day when
The swimming pools are empty
No one to listen to my stories
Books go unread
The only thing left to share is a four by eight room.
I feel the noose getting tighter around my neck
I picture my life slipping away.
There’s no life to speak of.
Gone away,
all I have left is my memories
Some haunt
Others hurt
No legacy,
Gloating over my death
While going through my spoils
Only to find
The biggest lie ever told to me
Doesn’t exist.
In life and in death.
Love is unimaginable
God is unimaginable
Two excuses
That are unforgivable.

Disease

It runs through the blood, like savages, raping and pillaging.
Killing everything in its path.
It is called by many names, destruction is its purpose.
The warriors are silent.
The greed is strong, the city lay dead.
The graves are full and the savages grow stronger.

True Love

I am bound by every bone, by blood.
Captured in my mind, is your beauty.
You are loved more than love itself, more than life.
The peace I feel when I'm with you suffocates all my fears.
No one can replace your touch, your smile, you.
It's you, I love, I've watched you for a lifetime.
I've felt your pain and suffering.
I've shared in your laughter.
I watched when you mourned, laugh with me.
Cry with me, bring me to my knees, I beg.
You I love, if only I loved you as I love you now.
For you are me, myself I love.

Awakened

Life has become a biter fruit.
War, pestilence, disease is its playground.
The minds of youth, being poisoned by their own mothers.
Jackals feed their young with supplements.
Children are fed poison.
We hide behind the skirts of nuns.
They turn on you with their sticks.
The corner has become my sanctuary.
Hands cupping my face, while the medicine poisons me.
Suffocating in my own dreams, lost in hell,
or what's perceived of it.
Waking to the same nightmare.
Delusion has become my friend,
Left alone to my own devices, death comforts me.
