Summer Rain Blues

for days now I've been feeling blue
Ashamed from stupid things I do
Kicked myself, distraught, knocked down
Can't seem to shake this sorry frown

I tried with might to halt the force
Like caverely marching, men and horse
But tears too strong to hold inside
came crashing down, a torrid slide

And there I stayed for days and days
Time ticked by, face unchanged
Swathed in dirt and mud and grime
Flotsam, jetsam of the mind

I lay in darkness and searched for clues
On how to stop these summer rain blues
And from the thick, jet black cruel night
I saw a flicker, a candlelight

Alone it stood, so small obtuse
Yet the more I stared, the more it grew
This tiny flame engulfed the room
Illuminating, in full bloom

I am the flame that dances tonight
Winds will shake me, but I will re-light
I am warmth and I am bright
I feel happy now, tomorrow firmly in my sight
