No One Ever Knew

No one ever said
I love the way you are
I never got the letters
I wanted to be sent

And no one ever knew
About the desperate notes
on my mirror
And never knew
when I pretended that
I didn't write them

And the secret presents
never came
no matter how long
I stood
waiting

And the letters
I so desperately wanted
to come

I wonder
if I'm just making it up
Did anyone notice?
That the letters had disappeared
And the time will come when
with elation
I will greet that person
in the mirror
as they arrive

And say thank you
for saying
I love the way you are
is that really what you said
in your letters?

And no one ever knew
That I would sit at my mirror
and read those words
crying.
And comforting me
would be those faded letters
that never came
and those notes
signed with my name.

And I would cry
and say thank you.
For letting me think
that one day someone would
send me those letters.

I Could Never

It's time to see the truth
I could never be with you
And throughout my whole life
You were the only one who knew.

I could never have seen
That it wasn't what it seemed
That the love I thought I had
Wasn't what I'd dreamed

Was it just biased love?
I don't know.
I thought I should tell you
Before I finally go.

And I was such a fool
And it wasn't what it had seemed
It wasn't that you didn't care
But it wasn't what I'd dreamed.

And I could never have seen
It just wasn't meant to be
Maybe another life would have been
A life for you to love me.

Maybe you didn't even know it
But it was completely true
I want so much to tell you
That I loved you.

Eden

Intertwined from deep inside
Adam and Eve lay side by side
Intent to live unto God's will
knowing nothing then, nothing still
One day their Lord said unto thee
"Eat forever from these trees
But beware that upon which apples grow
Doomed to thy burden of what thy shall know"
In peace they lived, loved and grew
For seven days more they never knew
Then sly snake curled in the grass
whispered to Eve about the things that would pass
Neglecting to speak of the sin
that when it was passed would begin.
He told her of what God had said
Dreaming happily, his words went to her head
Taking the apple she bit it in two
Savouring the power she suddenly knew
The snake laughed and slid away
As Eve ran the skies turned grey
Adam appeared by her side
She began to cry and tried hard to hide
"Oh that snake is to blame!"
She cried out in shame.
Placing the fruit at Adam's feet
She told of the snake she had the bad luck to meet
Adam ate the apple and started to frown
Examining his hand and looking down
He gave a cry and his face went red
Realising his nakedness he ran instead
To hide with Eve behind the leaves
And gather branches from the trees
To hide their sin and forget their greed
The two quickly buried the apple seed
The guilt and greed they could not bear
Still naked without clothes to wear
The pair confessed their sins straight away
When confronted by their Lord that day
Thrown from Eden they wept
Never ate, never slept
Watching from the locked Gate,
Lies the snake who they grew to hate.
Laughing loudly at their sin,
And all the sin that would soon begin.

Crashing Again

Hold me close
don't go away
I need someone
who wants to stay
Mary Mary quite contrary
how does your garden grow
With silver bells and pretty shells
and gravestones all in rows
Empty words spilling out
Drowning you in my tears
Choking you so you can't scream and shout
Asphixiating on my fears.
Dearly beloved are you even real?
I can't remember anything
When I touch you I don't know what I feel
Except this torture still lingering.
I'm that girl that holds on tight
clinging to your arms and stealing all the light
I can't take this place but I can't leave
But escape is something I can't conceive.
Insanity is rising inside
Putting me in line
Forcing me back to burn and hide
Drinking my pain like wine
Mary Mary quite contrary
come to watch me cry
And Mary Mary so contrary
comes to help me die.
