Where were you when my world came crashing down,
When my family was ripped apart?
If you're so omnipotent
Where were your rays of light
When I was cast in darkness?
Just where was it, exactly,
That all of those "Our Fathers" went?
Who was it that heard me
Pleading the Decades of my plastic rosary
In the dark
Alone
Terrified
Unable to sleep
While my mother cursed my father in the next room?
Were you busy that night week month year?
Where were you when a stuffed toy
Provided me with more comfort than you,
The Creator of Life?
Where were your soothing words
And gentle caresses
When I was so enraged I could only see red?
When I was so depressed there was only black--
When my life had no meaning
And my world had no color?
Where were you?

Untitled

Fear
Deep, endless, consuming
Fills her beautiful brown eyes
Shh...
She struggles little
Not much longer I promise
Small wheezing sounds escape her lips
Those lips...
I hate doing this.
Her neck, ivory neck, elegant neck
I'm sorry
So sorry
I whisper a kiss on her forehead
Linger over her lips
Those lips
Those soft, silent lips
I remove my hand.
