dial tone

A
Phone call
That will go
Ignored then on -
Static pours out from
The receiver until
I can hear your voice through it.
Let me drown in this soft white noise,
Let me sleep until I dream of you;
Your form flickers in my memories.
When the dial tone breaks the facade
And I'm left alone in the booth,
All I can think to do is
Rummage around looking
For just one more - oh,
That quarter was
The last one
I had
Left.

coasting

At
The pier,
We gazed at
This wide mirror,
Unable to see ourselves.
Hey, just wait until dawn -
Wait until the sun rises -
And then maybe we'll understand
The meaning of this messy life...
Just kidding, look at me - [do you believe?]
Walking with sleepy eyes, just coasting,
Talking on without much boasting;
Today the sea is cloudy,
But I can see clearly.
For you, I'll ramble
Just to prove I'm
Living for
Me.

grave

I
Had long
Lost my wings
And abandoned
The heavens above,
Living within the earth
To be tread upon until
My bones, my eyes, my heart, wore down -
Forgotten amongst the soil once more.
My discontentment drowns within the mud
And leaves only a gouging longing.
Tell me a story where I can
Open my dirtied wings wide
And take that final leap;
There's no need for graves
Or tombstones when
I already
Dug the
Hole.

a piece

A
Second,
A minute,
A month, a year,
A decade - a life
Rushed through without purpose;
I'm pieces of a person
Not yet wise enough to choose what
Of the present I should hold onto.
I want to be better - i want to [be].
A century, a millenia,
A myriad - not quite aeons,
But close enough, close enough...
Everything i feel is
Smoothed away; I lay
Under the sun
And feel nothing
But my heart,
Now at
Rest.

blink

We
Blink, and
The world goes
Black for just a
Millisecond - such
A tiny piece of time
That we could walk on without
Ever truly thinking about.
This me, living on in front of you,
I'd smile if I vanished in that short blink.
A face, a name, the colour of eyes,
They become meaningless as we
Continue our slow waltz on;
How many humans do
You see in a day?
If you see me,
Blink - breathe in -
And live
On.

puddles

In
Your eyes
I could've
Melted away
Into the spring rain,
Until no thoughts came to mind.
I don't want to ponder, I just
Want to hold your hands while I
Become something akin to nothingness.
Flowers fall away into puddles;
Before I could comprehend it,
The ripples pushed us apart.
Deep in our sleep, we dream
Of childish things like
"Fate" and "true love";
Even now
You still
Dream.

pick-up truck

Your
Beat-up
Pick-up truck,
With the rattle
Somewhere deep inside,
Carries me through the night.
The windows are down, the scent
Of the day's petrichor is strong;
I've seen something new today, I feel
Like the child who once craved your attention.
But we've changed, the truck isn't silver -
Today, from now, we're eye-to-eye.
Our work, bills, meaningless things -
Whatever comes to mind,
I smile and laugh
It all away
In the back
Of your
Truck.

spilled milk

"If
It ain't
Broken, don't
Fix it", and yet
I'd been nothing but
A toy, a doll to dress.
It was so easy as kids
To make up scenarios that
Would magically fix our broken hopes;
Back then, we were allowed to cry freely.
"There's no use crying over spilt milk -"
I get it now, so stop talking;
At the window where I hoped
That I'd fly if I jumped,
My tears had dried up
And soured like
Some useless
Dried-up
Drink.

stardust

Stars
Scattered
Across her
Beautiful face
Would glow when she smiled,
Her eyes the moon and sun.
It's a love as peaceful as
The neverending depths of space;
Please hold me close within your orbit,
I want to be held in your rotation.
For as long as the planets travel,
Supernovae brightly collapse,
And infinity reaches,
I will always love you.
Let these light-years pass
Until I'm worn
And become
Stardust
Too.

white

White
Blankets
Cover the
Earth; time slows down,
And the drifting flakes
Lighten my heavy heart.
The quiet nights spent under
The milky moonlight and bright stars -
Breathing in and emptying my mind -
It is when I finally feel at peace;
There are no expectations when all
The world has laid its head to rest.
No requirements to be,
I feel I can lay down
My weary bones and
Fade away in
The endless
Fields of
Snow.
