Evie Howsam Poem
I look over at my family
Laughing and smiling
Not paying attention to me
Or the deep void within my heart
Do they ever wondering what its like?
To wake up each morning, consumed by the gaping hole in your chest.

Evie Howsam Poem
My dog and me
Nobody noticed the hole deep within my heart
Only visible to me
Only felt by me
16- The teenage dream and yet I had never felt more alone
The childlike wonder had disappeared
Completely gone
My innocence taken from me by the cruelty of time
I began to question what had happened
What had gone so wrong?
I then realised this was the simple reality of growing up
As I change from childhood to adulthood
The ongoing cycle of life
Seemingly never ending
I looked over at my dog
Wagging his tail
The same look in his eye as when I first laid eyes on him
Full of anticipation and excitement
He still had that same spark
The same lively energy
So why didn’t I?
I knew that sometimes, he must wonder it too.
Where had the happy little girl he met 7 years ago gone?
