My mother and sister cannot read

Childhood was to see my
mother get abused by my father
and wanting to do something about it
But it’s her who allowed that abuse
It’s her who stopped me,
but didn’t stop my father

Adulthood is to see my
sister getting abused by her husband
and not being able to do anything
because it’s her who allows that abuse
It’s her who stopping me,
but not her husband

The cycle never ends, it never stops
I can’t break it, I tried, I couldn’t do it
If you are reading this, seeing this
I hope you’re fighting for yourself
I hope you are breaking the chain
because I couldn’t do it, I tried hard

If you are reading this, if you can read
I hope you’re able to fight for yourself,
for my mother and my sister as well
My mother and sister cannot read this
If they could, maybe they would have fought back
If they could read this, see this, understand this
Maybe they could have fought for themselves
