How to Guide the Ego

Here we go again,
You talking all that nonsense
But let me put you on, my friend.

How to kill an ego?
This thing that keeps you going,
This thing that makes you tell yourself, I'm the best. I deserve this.
The same thing that lets you rip through lives,
Limb from limb,
Yet also lets you save one,
When things are looking grim.

How to kill an ego?
You want to know?
Let me tell you the ways.

But first
Think of life.
Think of your purpose here, right now.
Think of that ego steering you clear
Of the goals you say you want to achieve.

So what do we do?
Try to kill it?
No—there ain’t no stopping it.
So let’s see if we can guide it,
Live in harmony with it.

I want you to think of something important,
Something that sets your soul on fire.
Now attach your ego to it
Let it drive you higher.

See, that ego is always moving,
Flying around, landing next,
Figuring out whose life it’ll shape,
Or whose it’ll wreck.

That ego will take you high in the heavens,
Make you sing hallelujah,
Make you rich beyond measure
Or drag you into ruin.

But it can also feed your family,
Build your community,
Set your people up for life.
That ego can be self-love
Or it can be self-destruction.

So how do we guide the ego?
Attach it to a purpose.
Make sure it's true.
And when all else fails, and you don’t make it through,
Look up to me,
And I’ll show you the man I want to be.

It’s time to stop trying to kill the ego
Maybe, just maybe,
It’s time to guide it,
Because if you do it right...
It might just set you free.

What is a Name?

Name

What is a name?
No, listen what does it mean?
You see me. You know my name.
But do you know my name?

I go by the name she chose,
But I long for the name I’d choose.

So, when you look at me and wonder,
"What is his name?"
And I reply, "That’s for you to decide,"
Give me one.

Keep it to yourself, though I don’t want to know.
But when you see me, when I show you me,
Think of the name you’ve given.

If it’s a good name, then smile.
And I’ll know our bond is true,
For it was the name you chose for me.

A name is just a word, yet it carries so much weight
But only you can define your fate.

It’s Time to Live My Life and Truths

If you live your life with lies,
Think of what name that applies.

See, you can be yourself,
When you see yourself in others’ eyes.

So spread the word of Truth.
Speak power to your name,
For it is what God has given you this day.

Now look into my eyes
I tell no lies.

For it is written in my name. I will be rich always in my brain. Be like water my friend. We're all the same. What's in your name?

Good Morning, Family Part 1

Good morning, family here’s to new beginnings.
As you wake and step into the world,
Think about who you won’t hurt today.
Think about the next person you see,
And how to bring a smile to their face.

Consider everything within your space
Your thoughts, your heart, your sacred place.
Tell yourself, This is mine to protect,
A sanctuary I must keep safe.

As we don our shields and garments
To walk through life’s uncertain roads,
Choose to step out with a smile,
For the world is heavy, burdened, and gray.

But your smile
It just might brighten someone’s day.

I love you all. Be safe.
And may your smile change this place.

I tapped into the Flow State Oh what a marvelous day

I Tapped Into the Flow State

I tapped into the Flow State today
Oh, what a marvelous day.
I tapped into the Flow State today,
Step aside make way!

I tapped into the Flow State today,
Everything’s going my way.
I tapped into the Flow State today
What the did you do with your day?

You ask me how let me show you the way:
This morning began unusually so,
An idea sparked:
Be one with the snow.

Outside I wandered, the air crisp and free,
Until I met her a magnificent tree.
"Embrace me," she whispered, so gentle, so slow,
And at last, hand and branch became one in the snow.

I tapped into the Flow State what a wondrous day,
The wind didn’t push south; it led me north to stay.
Guided by whispers, by nature, by chance,
I danced with the universe in a wordless trance.

I’ve Got 700 Pounds of Love to Shed

I’ve got 700 pounds of love to shed.
What’s that? You didn’t hear me?
Listen closely to what I’ve said:
I’ve got 700 pounds of love to shed.

Watch the way I move,
Listen to my words.
Feel the even flowit comes and goes,
Teaching me what I need to know.

What form will this love take?
How will it shape me as it breaks?
Show me the mold, the path to be,
The love I’ve kept is setting me free.

And one day, I’ll come to you and say:
“I’ve got 700 pounds of love to shed.”
Watch it fade, watch it flow
A lighter me, ready to grow.

You better come catch this love if you can,
Because it’s moving fast,
And I’ve got a plan.
