Jessica Counts Poem
Our love was parasitism.
You benefited while you harmed me.
You left my heart hanging from a rope as a lifeless body would.
Maybe I could heal, maybe I should.
Did you ever love me as much as you could?
My heart burns.
Burns like wood.
This limerence consumed me whole.
Consumed my heart.
Consumed my mind.
And soon there was nothing left to say.
Nothing to bind.
I’ll have to live without you by my side.
it was as if I got caught in a riptide.
I told you my truth.
You sighed.

Jessica Counts Poem
I kept it hidden
When I knew it was forbidden
I regret it I swear
Being ignored by you
Is hard to bear
Our love is not perfect
But we should always try
I’m sorry I lacked
I don’t want to leave
I don’t want to pack
Push and shove
No attack
Forgive me my love
My knowledge is yours forever
I promise I’ll do better
For you and for me
Watch and you will see
who I can really be
It’s been strange
like seeps of forest you can see
but the rest is hidden
Only explorers can find
You’ve explored me
saw every crevice of my soul
and yet I kept it hidden
like I was forbidden
forbidden from you
but how could I be?
when all I am is nothing without you.
