Oh lover

Our love was parasitism. You benefited while you harmed me. You left my heart hanging from a rope as a lifeless body would. Maybe I could heal, maybe I should. Did you ever love me as much as you could? My heart burns. Burns like wood. This limerence consumed me whole. Consumed my heart. Consumed my mind. And soon there was nothing left to say. Nothing to bind. I’ll have to live without you by my side. it was as if I got caught in a riptide. I told you my truth. You sighed.

A familiar tale but when it happens, it hurts. Superbly penned, Jessica.
