Victoria Vermillion Poem
Pigtails sat tightly on her head
Curls poking through
And framing her face.
The bear kept her company,
Sat close by her head.
The dolls sat carefully placed
Drinking tea around the table.
Her name in blocks
Across the wall,
Not easily missed by passing eyes.
A rainbow spread above her bed,
Sparkles raining down,
A crown above her head.
Drawings littered the floor,
Colors outside the lines.
A perfect metaphor, she thought
For the life she had made.
The curtains are pulled
Closing off the sun
Yet the walls were still bright
And young
And innocent.
She stood in the doorway,
The image fading.
The walls were still bright,
But the memories dimmed.
As long as she stood there,
The room would not change.
They kept it the same,
No matter how long she was gone.
Her clothes were now dark,
Her hair loose and full.
She stared at the room,
For one last time
Hoping she could return
Although the hope
Would not last.

Victoria Vermillion Poem
I run through the fields,
Dirt on my feet,
Grass between my toes,
And the wind in my face.
I want adventure,
As I climb the tallest tree.
The new leaves are fresh,
They match the grass,
The birds,
The liveliness of the world.
I look out
On to the world,
Never knowing
What will be next.
I refuse to look down,
Scared of the fall,
Scared of the failure.
A bird chirps
From the branch behind me,
And I smile,
Knowing someone is
Looking out for me.
The world may be strange,
A new adventure,
A new feeling,
New people, new words.
But the grass tickles
My toes, the dandelions
Blowing in the wind.
New life is always
Growing,
Never leaving anyone behind.
The world stands still,
As I stand beneath the tree.
The bird chirps again,
And I feel at peace.
The world is out
In front of me, and
I know to never let go.

Victoria Vermillion Poem
The dress swayed with the rhythm
Pooling at her feet like blood.
Her hair swung back and forth
As she tried to catch him in the act.
Roses covered her face
Its thorns creating marks
Ones that will never go away.
The ruffles swayed as she moved
The blood pumping and
Swaying at her feet.
Lost in the music
And now focus of her plan
For one moment there was bliss
And then the danger came.
He took her from the partner
The one that was her shield.
She raised the mask
Covered in roses
Concealing the lack of color
That took over her face.
The music slowed,
And his smile grew.
He finally had her
In his arms.
But the smile was a fool,
Taking the music for granted.
His matching tie
To her dress,
Now matched the knife
She threw to the ground.
