The Knock

He knocked upon my door one day
I answered by letting him in
I couldn't imagine what he would say
But something did begin

Something, too good to be true,
one would say, something out of the blue
Something edging on the brink
something, that was you

Inside the knocking became so loud
Vibrations turning upside down
A miracle? I dare not ask
I was willing to take upon the task.

For many nights the knocking came
Long the hours, we were the same
till morning rise, it called my name
and i reached out to share in this game

This feeling, new and undiscovered
made one enchanted by the other.
In the heart the knocking grew,
Pounding out it's rhythms' new

Enchantment, ah the word is sweet
is also masked by being incomplete
Voices carry through the night
the closer the knocking
the stronger the might

then the words came from the knock...

And it threw me.

Sartorial Self Portrait

Solid denim
torn at the knee
dark hues of cotton
comfortable as can be

tears from the loving
of horses' gentle pull
stains where
children's hearts were full

A hint of reds
purples and greys
eclectic and simple
depends on the day

Easy the flow
strong are the seams
a small touch of color
smell of lavender when cleaned

Fancy it's not
though dribbles of strife
wares of this wardrobe
express a simple life.

Sleep

Gently falling into slumber
    Waves of silent breaths unfurl
       Pillow soft, head, tis under
           bundled under blankets curled
Breathing slows
    heartbeat settles
       floating softly
            upon flower petals
Silky cuddled
    comfort sets
       A day of blunder
             soon forgets
drifting off
    feels like a cloud
        nothing pressing
            nothing loud
floating above
     in skyward motion
        dreamland comes
            swaying like the ocean
fall away
    from all that stresses
        during the day
            forget the messes
light as air
    deeper in sleep
        till morn does rise
            and bird songs seep

Utter Silence

Silence
   so loud
who knows the sound?
Who, at a point in life has not utterly drowned
in what
is silence?

Always searching
   reaching for something
Beyond the veil
    into the darkness
Catching a glimpse
    of the life
        so, needed
heart beat rapid
           never completed
yet never grasping
at full life
       set back
 in silence

Oh, how I wish
  I could run
      so free
On fields of green
   the rivers,
      the trees

And Sunlight!
  oh, what wonderous warmth
with flowered aromas
           and air so sweet

Yet
Silence...
is always around
     Tell me
dear stranger
           Where is life found?

Petals on the Wind

Early in the morning
as the sun began to rise
as the birds began to wake
and fly into the sky
soaring high above her head
in the misty morning dew
while the rivers trickle onward
to greet the day anew.
she stands along the banks
amongst the waters streams
dropping petals, one by one,
Into a sunrise beam
Chanting their names with each petal that falls
she whispers upon the winds to all
For the existence of a love not found
to never make her heart be bound
her words, she called with each petal tossed
a love she never knew, a love she never lost
Protect my heart she silently prayed
from a love that can never be made
This is my wish, she closed her eyes
her heart cried out in pleading sighs
A man who's gentle, oh but strong
A man whose heart, she would never belong
A gentle touch, a warm embrace
that certain look upon his face
Soul of fire, Spirit of good
Straight and tall, the way he stood
A wise mind and a creative hand
could melt my heart from a faraway land
a man of silence, a man of words
a man of kindness, a man absurd
One with the creatures high and low
one with a presence all would know
One like the lion, with the lamb in his eyes
One who could understand my cries
A rider of the endless nights
underneath the moonlight bright
these things i plead to not make live
to save my heart so not to give
she ended her words and gave her thanks
and walked away from the riverbanks
she saw not what happened next
the petals she threw bent and flexed
they rose upon the air and swirled
dipping and twisting in the winds curl
she continued on her way
knowing her heart would never be swayed
the winds they laughed and began to play
whispering amongst their magical way
the petals danced their way to the door
of a man whose heart was nevermore
hurt and sorrowful he bled
of a love he'd never had
the wind it swirled around his feet
up to his hands the petals did meet
at that moment she felt her heart
its beat had changed she felt a part
of something she had never known
touched by what the winds had sown
she felt his presence she felt his sorrow
the winds just smiled and whispered

tomorrow....

Ode to the White Raven

Custodians of ancient wisdom
Omens on wings of white
Symbols of transformation
Graceful watchers in flight

Harboring all the secrets
the creative and destruction
Protectors of the buffalo
Warning of the hunters

Beauty in white feathers
Mutation of genetics
Messengers of Apollo
Hauntingly prophetic

It's said that when you see one
"We'll know humanity as a whole
is shifting towards one of peace"
The white Raven
Mother Earths Soul.

Silence of Love

In all that we do
with all that we say
the conclusion is this
Nothing is here to stay
Empty promises
broken vows
hide in darkness
it's over now
into the silence
again, to fall
forget what it was
forget it all
nothing to win
nothing to lose
nothing but fear
of being used
each word you told me
each moment that passed
sticks with me wholly
filled my empty glass
now you change
all the words you said
into sharpened blades
that impale my head

Wait for the darkness to come around
as the moon falls in without a sound
and the sky turns black
no stars are seen
visions of nothing in between
explosions of thought ride high in my mind
ne'er a whisper you'd be so unkind
wait for the darkness to come around
as the moon falls in without a sound
and the sky turns black
no stars are seen
visions of nothing
in between

silence of bells
no words on the screen
draining inside
silence the scream
enter the feeling
to drowning to state
you make me sit here
sit here and wait
as my mind travels
in so many ways
what are you doing love?
why don't you stay?
where are we going?
what am I to do
when I can't get through this life
without you

you said you loved me
you said you were mine
you left me in silence
your feelings went blind

and I sit and wait
for darkness to come around
and the moon falls in
without a sound
the sky turns black
no stars to be seen
and the visions of nothing
in between
Ne'er a whisper
you'd be so unkind
for explosions of thought
consume my mind

Logic and love
oh, what a pair
when the darkness falls in
leaving nothing but despair

Why Don't You Stay - Glen Hughes Inspired

I know your life's been lonely
Your hearts an open book
Stay here with me darlin
Give us one more look

I'd give you the moon and stars
If you'd turn back around to see
If true love is what you're looking for
Then please come back to me

I've been here in your shadow
waiting for your call
Please my darling stay with me
I'll never let you fall

Please stay with me my darling
One more chance and you will see
I've been waiting for you darling
You know just where I'll be.

Rememberances

O' dear sir
I do not squander
Into mindsets
long in wonder

In my time
set far before yorn
since the day
when I was born

mine eye saw much
of what was then
light of a touch
forth it comes again

Ah, but to squander
too much in thought
tis not a pleasure
I dare not ought

future tis where
my mind eye lies
Seeking prevalence
not starry skies

Alas, inside
my silent days
remembrances wander
engulfed in haze

But oh, kind sir
such thoughts do carry
sadness of life
which are secondary

So, NAY, dear sir
I will not wander
into the mindset
long in squander

The Mirror

All that you are
All that you see
Everything about you
Is reflected in me
Reverse intentions
See just who you are
Into your soul
To your deepest scar
They call me the mirror
I'm one who reflects
All that you hide
All you reject
They call me the mirror
You cannot break
The hold of my hand,
My grip, my embrace
You cannot escape me
For i am inside
The very heart of you
Where nothing can hide
Open eyed I see
Your darkest corners reached
I am your shadow,
I mimic what you breached
They call me the mirror
One who reflects
All that you hide
All you reject
They call me the mirror
You cannot break
The hold of my hand
My grip, my embrace
I shine the light upon you
As you so intently gaze
Into the depths within you
Setting your soul ablaze
The hell inside you screaming
The light it shines so bright
 The mirror always reflects
What needs to be set right
They call me the mirror
One who reflects
All that you hide
All you reject
They call me the mirror
You cannot break
The hold of my hand, my grip, my embrace
Yes, they call me the mirror
One day you will see
All lain before you
As you made it to be
Reflections and truth
You try to deny
Open to me
As i watch you cry
Your days will be numbered
Your nights filled with pain
Your future so distant
With false promises made.
They call me the mirror
For your truth i see
As i show to the world
Which you chose to be
