The Solar Eclipse

On a normal day
All is quiet
A crimson delay
Causes much unrest
Shadows grow
Strengthened by darkness
All we know, exceeds understanding
What lit the Earth
Loses power for just a moment
A dark shadow, crowned
By a golden halo
Suspended in mid-air
Blindlingly awestruck
We question its influence
What the eclipse has to teach
We may never know
But for just a moment
We stand in silence

Angered Shadows

The darkness angered
The shadows of the house wail
Clawing at tenants

My Happy Place

When I close my eyes
This world melts away
Revealing to my surprise
The world I left astray
A low lit room
Watching a stage
A rocking tune
And comedic craze
The smell of cuisine
Italian of the sort
Croissants in between
This I report
Cool, crisp air
Pure to my skin
It is my happy place
I want to come again

Lady Long Locks

Old Lady Long Locks
Lived in a long box
But one rainy day
The box washed away
Now she lives in a barn full of lots
Of golden-brown hay

Being Saved

In the past I was weak
Feeling of emptiness and fear
My heart was bleak
But now I am here
My mistakes still haunt me
From time to time
But now I am free
God has pardoned my crime
When He sent Jesus
To die on the cross
Our sins were washed away
Now we look upon a brand new day
His sacrifice lives forever
So we may live eternally
Up in heaven
Our peaceful home

Soldier of God

In the presence of battle
Surrounded by smoke
Everything goes silent
Your heart pounds
As you realize
For a minute that you are alone
On that battlefield
Risking it all
For the fate of your country
You are a soldier
A soldier of God
And then you pray
Kneeling on the ground
Hands clasped
That minute stretches on
Forever praying
Then you march
Onward and fight
The fight of faith
Guided by that holy light
It seems all will see
At one point
Finally, that prayer seems to make the difference
As you win that battle

The Treasure We Seek

The mighty hunt
For treasures great
Not gold or rubies
Or a silver slate
Blessed be the treasure
We all seek
Twill not bring the pleasure
Of diamonds so sleek
NO! My friend, this treasure is fine
But Is not likely to be labeled as just mine
I wish to share this bounty with the world
No man is over the power of The Lord
Our God, who rein o'er all
Creator of things, big and small
It is worth more than a diamond
More precious than wealth in gold
It brings to us a happiness
That, without it, we would not hold
So I pray, with strength and heart
That with God, we never part

The Ghost Town

I stroll alone in a town of night
Driven to fear and blissful fright
A town scarred by war, quiet and distraught
Ghostly manifestations in twilight wrought
More and more fill the night
Bringing forth a host to sight
They surround me and alone I stand
They exist smoky and eyeless upon the land
Expressionless accusations like ice on my skin
Mouth-less voices scream within
They collapse to a silken state
Ghoulish fog seals their fate

The Shadow Man

Sorely due, into the night
and the shadow man, he was here
He sat at his desk
Grim things his mind did contain
He put pen to paper
A world of liberated thought
Mastered in the fires of memory
His stories of longing
Born in stillness, nursed by black ink

Villagers read, filled with fright
But the shadow man shed not a
single tear
Imprisoned by starry rest
The aged page did black ink stain
And whisper the story of a caper
Many ages of mad men his story
sought
On ink black waters glimmering
to the night his heart was belonging
From his spirit his words were
linked
