Danne Overleaf Poem
Sterling silver spikes me softly
Come inside the wound and make it yours
Taste the blood and wonder at the glory
Of crushing into dust your palm.
Sing me to sleep with your whispers
Cradle me with your tears
Trace my lips with your irony
And smooth my hair with your inconsistency.
Teach me to walk as if I don’t feel
Guide me into despair.
Teach me the walls of dreaded safety
Guide me into dereliction.
Scream with no voice
Sleep with no dreams
Dangle with no gravity
Hold my hand like a gun
Drink in my eyes like arsenic
Kiss my mouth with suffocation
Bite my neck to steal my control.
Hear with no feeling
Drown with no water
Leap.

Danne Overleaf Poem
Search search search
Find the happy ending.
You don’t need to pretend.
There are lights dancing on the horizon
They shine with imbued ambivalence
I can touch nothing but my eyes reflect
Shining orbs of transience
Floating.
Away.

Danne Overleaf Poem
Stars entwining,
Warmth declining.
This silvery dream melts
Into luscious, abiding reality.
Then you whisper away and I am left
With an empty bed.
Ghost-thoughts cling,
Silent memories manifest, gently.
And then roughly we tumble into
A never-sought world of tomorrow,
And now we are seeking – seeking – seeking –
For a way to survive.
Your distance is your strength,
And mine.
We aren’t lost – we are wandering
Through a labyrinth of the future, unknown, undiscovered.
There is cold and light and dark and heat
Twisting together all into one moment
Tearing at me soothing me reawakening me
And all I can do is wait. And wonder
What tomorrow will bring.

Danne Overleaf Poem
Transcendental dreams on torrid currents
Sing to sleep the slow-dimming day.
My earth shatters mote by mote,
Each crumb of life more faded.
Burst up, bloom out, REACH
The world awaits
A moment of succumbing passion.
Be more than you have been.
Suck in the sweet nectar of each
Passing Moment
Shine with glimmering reflected
Light
You only have one.

Danne Overleaf Poem
The music on our lips
Was dripping slowly
Down into the depths
Of the Forgotten.
Your enchantment was never
Better than at a distance.
When I cannot
See you
Feel you
Hear you
Need you.
That’s when I love you most.

Danne Overleaf Poem
And I cannot make you go
If you’re set on staying.
And I cannot make you live
If you’re set on dying.
There was a road, down this way,
When we used to live here.
We used to laugh and laugh
And talk the sun down.
Now there is silence
As the years roar forward,
And even the music
Isn’t enough.
To drown our estrangement
We jump into a river
Of the days past
And shiver in the cold.
There is nothing left
But swallows on the silken wind,
And silence that wafts in empty echoes,
And the dying leaf that whispers to the ground.
Orange blossoms and rancheros
Wooden fences and golden hills
Shining, dying, flying, falling
Our memories Fantasia.

Danne Overleaf Poem
Spiral slipping sun is rising
Crashing backward falling sideways
Rain is dripping on my face.
You pull I push
Pocket full of posies
We all fall down.
Clouds gathering thunder is collapsing
Sinking down holding the ground
Taste the salt in my mouth.
You reach I fall
Rings around Roses float
Into ashes.
Fire igniting world is burning
Leaping through smashing up
My eyes are closing.
Ring around the Roses
Pocket full of Posies.
Ashes.
Ashes.
We all fall down.

Danne Overleaf Poem
You’re not listening
You’re not LISTENING.
It walks it wends it winds it
Sighs.
I tried to taste the glistening light
I tried to suck in the sweet simple sadness
I tried to swallow the smashing waves
But instead
They swallowed me.
Will it stay with me?
This sticky poison, clinging to my throat.
Stinging in my lungs.
Bringing down my heart,
Beat by beat
Until all I have left is the neuron synapse
That makes pupils dilate, and eyelids blink.
Empty.

Danne Overleaf Poem
Wind howls and the sun sinks,
The light dies and the shadows lie,
Evening fades into twilight,
And I sit.
The window, an eye to the world,
All green, and now is black,
And the lack of breath,
It fills me.
And in my words, I am silent.
I do not hear you.
You are not in my dreams.
You do not exist.
You are far from here.
And here is nothing
But a figment
Of my dying memories.
It plays softly on me
As I forget
And into the distance
I fall.
Wind howls and branches bare,
Silhouettes dancing slowly,
I curl up and I make believe.

Danne Overleaf Poem
What you didn’t know when
You left that room
Grows and collects and ravishes and remains and
Builds into a mountainous grotto carved out into
The World.
You never sort of once even a little bit opened
Your small, squinting eyes
You didn’t ever really not even a little bit see
The pulsing of the twist salting the crystalline eyedrop tracing, trickling
Onto the carpet
Seeping into a stain.
What did you think was behind my eyes?
Never no never not even a little bit did you see
Human.
You saw Danger. You saw Threat. You saw Challenge.
You saw Insubordination. You saw Waste of Space.
You saw Red.
But you didn’t really not ever even a little bit see
Daughter.
