Anti Christmas

christmas comes but once a year
and thats too much for me
ive never been a fan of sitting round a dead pine tree
my favourite sweets are humbugs
turkeys for the yanks
and as for christmas crackers
would i pull yours
no thanks
bing crosbys on the radio
dreaming bout the snow
and fat men in red suits and beards
are everywhere i go
the queen comes on the tv
saying how shes had it rough
then steve mcqueen escapes again
and now ive had enough
ill get my coat and take a walk
the pubs just down the road
but that is closed for christmas day
so back to my abode
an early night sounds good to me
ill curl up with a book
forget about this christmas thing
its over now
thank god

The Hypocondriac

i dont feel well at all today
i think ive got the flu
the sweat is pouring out of me
like ive had a vindaloo
its minus three degrees outside
the frost is on the ground
but i am burning up and now
my head is spinning round
the pins and needles in my arm
are shooting down my side
and now im going dizzy
like im on a fairground ride
a crushing pain is in my chest
my breathings getting slack
i cant beleive i chose today
to have a heart attack

Strange

elephants dreaming of orange shaped fish
cornflowers surfing down pickle strewn paths
great crested grebes with thorns in their hooves
suitcases drunk in a queue for a stamp
bottles of trousers with books on their heads
welders in carpets abstaining from plugs
books in a curry with no one to flush
my dream is now over
so tell no one,,,hush

Bees

a child did to her mother say
why have the bees all gone away
those flutterbyes with coloured wings
and all those creepy crawlie things

its winter now her mother said
the insects have all gone to bed
when springtime comes they,ll wipe their eyes
those bumblebees and butterflies
and start the cycle once again
unless they,re killed by acid rain
or chemicals that farmers spray
to keep the insects far away
then one day soon we all will say
why have the bees all gone away

Sometimes

sometimes i wish i never said
the very first thing
that enters my head
sometimes i wish id never done
the things that at the time seemed fun
sometimes i wish i never had
that final beer that made me bad
sometimes i wish i never met
that girl that i filled with regret

Conundrum

i never knew what not to do
but i never knew i couldnt

even though i knew i shouldnt

The Black Cloud

when things are looking rosy
and you feel like youre a king
every one is smiling
but one tiny little thing
descends around your person
and alarm bells start to ring
your friends dont want to know you
you feel like youre alone
your house is round the corner
but a million miles from home
the quick way out is looking good
you wont be missed for long
the priest will say how good you were
as they play your final song
it could have been so different
i could have made you proud
i could have been a different man
if it wasnt for that cloud
