True Beauty

Let only God show
where the truest beauty lie,
For man made colors can’t compete
with the bluest sky.
Painters mix, and painters stir,
but not one will come out right
In capturing the beauty
of a quiet dove in flight.
And even the greatest poets
with their rhyming phrases
Cannot do the heart justice
to how mother earth amazes.
The musician with his chords
cannot, to his surprise,
Make you feel the way you feel
with moonlight in your eyes.
Even love is stronger
than the thickest plate of steel,
And sorrow runs much deeper
than the ocean can reveal.
We search and pray and ponder
over life and what we see,
But stand back and take a look
at what in life comes free,
For that is what we take for granted
each and every day.
The beauty is all around us,
and hope has come to stay
Count each and every sunset
as miracle in itself,
And you will see, that alone,
will be your greatest wealth.

Nature's Magic

A shimmering field of sparkled light.
The sacred breath drawn in on sight.
Fleeting colors that create more shades
Crashing together like musical waves.
A crimson swirl, a pumpkin flash,
A silent pink, then a yellow crash,
A blissful red, a fiery peach,
Then the dusty chiffon of a sandy beach.
Water that sparkles from the sunset hue,
Holding the summer in drops of dew.

Listen

It is not always about you.
Sometimes it is about me.
There are things I hide inside
And they are waiting to be set free.
It not just about the cure,
Some times it is the disease,
That needs to be extinguished
By a simple word called please.
Please let me tell my story,
Please let me fuel my flame,
Please let me find my strength inside
That I have put away in shame.
There is one pure and simple truth
That I search for everyday,
And sometimes i feel the closer I get,
The more it fades away.
So let me tell my story
As you sit and wonder why
I didn't tell you sooner,
And just left my soul to die.

Love Never Lost

The patterns of my life
Sifted through your heart.
The calling of the wind
Gives you a place to start.
The crashing of the tide,
The bubbles of the surf.
The roughness of my fingers
After time kissing with the earth.
The golden ray of eyesight,
And the shield black with pain.
The rumble of the thunder
Then its calming, soothing rain.
The time you kissed my eyelids
As night turned into day.
The way that Hamlet felt
When his Ophelia sank away.
You taught my heart to sing,
And my thoughts to find their place,
Then you sang yourself to sleep
Still creating time and space.

Thoughts That Grow Louder

With a whispered thought comes a dream
To be above the shame and guilt
Of losing pride in what would seem,
To most, the whole of what we built.

With a quiet thought comes the fear,
And shadows close the doors of reason.
I see racing frames of pictures clear,
Rendering unbearable deeds of treason.

With that clear thought, I stand corrected-
So much love has come and gone,
But I, alone, must stay connected
To what I know and where I belong.

Love Finds a Way

Life changes like the seasons
Laughter bubbles, tears flow.
There's a quiet look as the mind reasons
to let the sorrow go.

Colors change as hearts do,
Flavors seem so rich.
As a new beginning follows through,
The paths to truth have switched.

Thunder rumbled as lightning struck,
Water flooded the ground.
A different storm, life crumbled.
I watched as it tumbled down.

But now to rebuild with new parts,
Tears provide the mortar.
One fourth respect, One half love
With laughter as the other quarter.

I'll cry tears for all the pain,
But it lessens everyday,
And life has taught to put trust in fate,
And love will find a way.

Roots of the Dream

An ode to friendship. An ode to believing.
A song and a whisper of love never receding.
Capture your heart with a butterfly net,
And build us a world we will never forget.
Two became one, and now what a sweet face,
And more memories than a million lives could replace.
Music and laughter, and a view of the lake.
Oh and I love Delilah, make no mistake.
The oceans are wide but with you by my side,
I am free in this world with nothing to hide.

Buried Truth

Years of history, failures and mistakes,
written through the eyes of winners.
What happened to the other side,
the story of the so-called sinners?

We all find peace when truth finds us,
but not when it has been locked away.
We will not know what has been taken,
from those who died that day.

Only those who were silenced know what had conspired;
a truth filled with their feelings.
The victors took the circuits and had them rewired
to fit in with the wheeling and dealing.

And what have we now but a half- told tale,
filled with glimpses of the truth that we seek.
What would have happened if the rewriting had failed,
the strong now regarded as weak?

The Quiet Rescue

Carry on in your ways.
You will never change me.
Keep your eyes forever closed.
Only your heart can make you see.
Come the tangles through your thoughts.
I'll provide the brush.
Ripping at your mind
Never helped you much.
Give someone your hand,
Rough as it may be,
And hold on to all you get,
Because that gift may make you free.
Don't throw it all away.
It's easier to forgive.
Cry tears for all your pain,
And hope will make you live.
You've locked your door of life
And thrown away the key.
Your soul has shriveled up.
Quiet may you be.

A Man Who Feels the Song of Life

On a moonlit night he plays his song
   throughout a quiet sleeping wood.
The music speaks of lives now gone
better than his stories ever could.
Memories fade and the seasons change
   the years have tumbled by.
But although the river may alter its course
its waters will never run dry.
