Roy Wilde Poem
Your Hand...
Touched the back of my neck in the darkness,
A comfort without words...
It was not despair that gripped me
Just this relentless life, and the weight of learning to live it...
To be loved in the lonely and secret places,
By tenderness...by silence
With only the touch of your hand

Roy Wilde Poem
The faithful sun rose in the eastern sky
Slowly over the swamp and the mist on the water
Bringing the breeze that whispers through the cattails
And the dew-covered grass…
The sound of wing-slapped water as geese rise in flight
They call out with a symphony of voices
Welcoming the morning
Everywhere I look is teeming with life
Beauty
And Solitude…
The cry of the red-tailed hawk
The chiding crows
The heron stalking its prey…
Everything I see overwhelms me
Until it wells up in my eyes with gratitude
Until it fills my heart with hope…
You must look if you hope to see
Listen if you hope to hear
Sit in silence if you hope to understand
Empty yourself if you would be filled…
To be bathed in the landscape of Grace
Where your truth awaits
As one with all creation…
All of this birthed in me
As the essence of the Love of God
All things seen and unseen
As the sun bursts into my being…
Until the very light I sought to see
Blinds me with its brilliance
Transforming with mercy
Uniting me with its fragile beauty…
The preciousness of this fleeting moment
Shines in the reflections of the morning sun
On the surface of my soul…
I bow my heart before the artist!

Roy Wilde Poem
I sat alone near an old dead tree in the forest
Fallen bark hanging in the limbs and branches of new growth,
as if she was giving herself to them
Surrounded by her offspring,
which carry her heart and speak her name in their flickering leaves
Once vibrant and strong,
now crumbling, broken, and alone, in her inevitable demise
The many secrets of the forest she has known,
the storms endured, the winter winds and bitter cold
The nesting birds, the warm summer sunlight she reached for,
as if to touch the heavens, all glorious and green
Her leaves that once fell to earth,
season after season will fall no more
Now, she gives back, moment by moment, year by year,
to the ground from which she came, slowly consumed by the landscape
The scars of life have ravaged her, and left her vulnerable and frail,
naked and exposed, at the mercy of time, and decay
Still standing tall, yet she will not stand much longer
Just one tree, as just one life,
beautiful in her time, now to me more beautiful in her death
As the wind whispers through the new growth,
she stands in stark contrast to the world around her
We live, we grow, we blossom, we die,
We give back
As an old dead tree in the forest
As for me,
I will remember her!

Roy Wilde Poem
I took my life on a sunny day in May for no other reason than I was tired...
Tired of the blackness of my heart,
The loneliness I can never explain
And the incessant chatter in my mind
Tired of the futility of believing anything is pure, or true
Or that Love could find in me,
A glimmer of something worth saving
Tired of the feebleness, the wavering, and the indecision
Tired of the crushing weight of relentless regret,
The rage of existence without purpose,
And the indifference of irrelevance
I know you don’t understand I don’t expect it,
But I long for it all the same
For an embrace that would consume me,
And devour my shame
But you cannot meet me here on this broken path
All hope burned to ashes
I glare desperately through the dark glass
As storms gather in the distance
And those I loved, and who I wished I had become
Passed before the eyes of my wretched heart
And I, finally alone in the cold silence,
Remain forever chained in madness,
Speechless in my oblivion
Beyond the reach...

Roy Wilde Poem
Last night…
I was a passenger in the back seat of a car destination unknown
I was suddenly overwhelmed
By music I had never heard
Its devastating melody
Brought feelings of unimaginable loss
And I wept uncontrollably
Knowing it would never be written
That it would die with me as tears and regret
Passing through my heart like shards of glass
Leaving a wound that would never heal
There is no returning...no getting back
Only a constant longing
Only a well of loneliness that can never be filled
Except with pieces of dreams
That fall from our lives from neglect
Still…
We reach for them as they fall
Mourning their loss as the death of a friend

Roy Wilde Poem
I am haunted by your words, hunted…by their meaning,
Torn to pieces and healed, at once alone, and embraced…
I wish you could see what I see, all this beauty…and heartbreak
I cannot bear them without you, come, and share my soul…
Drink deep of who I am, tear me open… unveil me,
Until I rest naked, in the light of your love…

Roy Wilde Poem
When all of this is lost
And the trees stand naked against the cold grey sky...
Will you remember?
When the last leaf falls
And the north wind howls against the windows of the heart...
Will you remember?
When my words lay silent and fate calls the harvest
This mortal reaped and soul gathered...
Will you remember?
Remember...
The birds of spring and the teeming green grass of summer
The promise of rebirth in every sunrise
And the cool shade beneath the willows
Remember...
The love between us and the beauty of untold secrets
Those precious things known without words
Locked in the deep well of the heart
We cannot say when we did not see
Cannot hear when we did not listen
Our ghost alone and haunting along a torn and desperate road...
When all of this is lost
And the heart stands naked before the throne of love...
Will you remember?

Roy Wilde Poem
I scream
This night vision
Too many miles without you
Like dissonance craves its resolution
I covet you
My Peace
With shattered dreams and frozen tears
I stand here naked
My soul pierced by eyes of fire
Desperately defenseless
Consume me
This heart in desolation
Love gives way to thorns

Roy Wilde Poem
Today was a ragged book that no one remembers
Alone on a dusty shelf
Patiently waiting to share all of the beautiful secrets
Written on brittle pages
And in the margin

Roy Wilde Poem
It's easy to lose hope
In a world beyond repair
When you can't escape the heartbreak
Of the burden that you bear
To see beyond your vision
Into the Deep Well of your soul
Where the whisper of the Spirit
Calls your heart to come back home
It's easy to give up
In a world that doesn't care
When you can't escape the longing
Of a heart that's been laid bare
To throw your arms wide open
To embrace the Great Unknown
Where the candle of forgiveness
Reveals the path to lead you home
It's easy to forget
This life is borrowed time
In the echos of forever
We're just a momentary rhyme
Just look beyond your vision
Into the deep well of your soul
And throw your arms wide open
To embrace the Great Unknown
Where the candle of forgiveness
Reveals the path to lead you home
