Remember

When all of this is lost And the trees stand naked against the cold grey sky... Will you remember? When the last leaf falls And the north wind howls against the windows of the heart... Will you remember? When my words lay silent and fate calls the harvest This mortal reaped and soul gathered... Will you remember? Remember... The birds of spring and the teeming green grass of summer The promise of rebirth in every sunrise And the cool shade beneath the willows Remember... The love between us and the beauty of untold secrets Those precious things known without words Locked in the deep well of the heart We cannot say when we did not see Cannot hear when we did not listen Our ghost alone and haunting along a torn and desperate road... When all of this is lost And the heart stands naked before the throne of love... Will you remember?

You poem beautifully explores themes of memory, loss, and the enduring power of remembrance. The repeated refrain, "Will you remember?" adds a haunting and contemplative tone, inviting readers to reflect on the significance of memory in the face of inevitable loss. The imagery of trees standing naked against a cold grey sky and the last leaf falling under the north wind creates a stark and evocative scene, symbolizing the bare vulnerability of life and the passage of time

The older I get the more important it is for me to remember, and to be remembered when my time comes. This poem was written a few months following the death of my oldest brother 11 years ago. Thank you again for your comments they are much appreciated.
