Pieces Of Dreams

Last night… I was a passenger in the back seat of a car destination unknown I was suddenly overwhelmed By music I had never heard Its devastating melody Brought feelings of unimaginable loss And I wept uncontrollably Knowing it would never be written   That it would die with me as tears and regret Passing through my heart like shards of glass Leaving a wound that would never heal There is no returning...no getting back Only a constant longing Only a well of loneliness that can never be filled Except with pieces of dreams  That fall from our lives from neglect Still… We reach for them as they fall Mourning their loss as the death of a friend

Yes, sometimes we can't do what is necessary to fulfill our dream/s, but as long as there is life there is hope that one day it will happen. Congratulations on your creative being featured on homepage. Sara K

Thank you for the kind words Sara. Some dreams pass us by without realization, but we can always dream.

Grieving for lost hopes, the death of a friend casts a shadow over our hearts. Yet, within the tapestry of memories, joy remains accessible—a fragile thread connecting us to the laughter shared, the whispered secrets, and the warmth of their presence. Great Poem

Any poem that begins with “Last night…” is based on an actual dream. This one was especially vivid to me. It appears that sadness is frequently my muse. Thank you again for your interest and insight.
