A Prayer in the Dark
How is it possible, O Lord
That my life seems so distant from you
When your very essence permeates my soul?
I breathe because you will it,
My heart beats because you allow it,
It is by grace alone that I exist at all.
What more can I do than offer you everything I am
As a gift in return for your mercy?
Your death...my life
Your sacrifice...my inheritance
Your incomparable Love...my redemption
Renew your flame within me,
Until it cannot be contained,
Until my burning heart serves you alone.
