All I Am

To you
I am
your friend
your acquaintance
your daughter
your sister
your aunt
your cousin
your niece
your in-law
your neighbor
your girlfriend
your ex
your classmate
your coworker
your dealer
your customer
a poet
a comedian
a girl
a musician
a seamstress
an artist
a weirdo
a bore
a joy
But those of which
I am to you
are all the things
I could be, too
I may lend my ear
I may give advice
I may ignore you
I may not treat you right
I may have hurt you
I may have helped you out
I may have made you smile
I may have made you warm
I may have changed you into someone futile
I may have been cold
Before I am who I am seen as;
Before I am who I could be;
Know the written word
is what's in me
And it will always be who I truly am

Little Sister

Little sister's seen it all happen to you
She's been exposed and could not care less
Get in the car, open up, undress
Little sister, she's no fool
She's seen it all happen to you

Hold it in, tuck it in, behind teas and cakes
Does she really learn from your mistakes?
Will her innocent face take the blame?
She's done bad, bad things compared to you
Slicker, smarter, crazy little fool

I Wish I Were An Idiot

Details should be tucked deep underneath;
anywhere else but nearby
Being aware just drags me down
and this knowledge feels so useles
Don't tell me a thing
'cause I've learned how it feels
Looking back on what I've lived through
pains me more than ever
My daydreams control themselves
and I can't help but sink
I'd rather not know a thing
than get shot down

We Meet Again.. Kind Of

It was morning and it was a bit chilly
Loud and "trassy" here in New York City
We were in the third week of school
And I stood behind you like a fool
Not knowing at all, just waiting for class
Just smoking my cig while time ticked and passed
I noticed a boy staring at the reflection of the window
And I thought of it as nothing; I threw my cig down so
My legs would take me closer to what I hated most
Your silhouette's the same, still foggy like a ghost
So when I stood by that window, I noticed you
Turned to look me straight in the eye (or at least try to)
You made it so obvious you were spying
Why bother to even look twice; since we were together you'd never glimpse at me crying?
And when I took leave I did what you had
Took another look at you in the window made us both sad
I felt it, I knew it, I saw it all over again
Why did I ever have to love you back then?

Don'T Go

I'd stick my hand into your mind
And place the tumor into mine
If I could save your life

I'd unload those bullets
And aim towards the sky
If it would save your life

I'd clean your wound; your flesh
And wipe the blood from the blade
If that could save your life

I'd write you songs or paint you things
And hold your hand or wear your ring
If that should save your life

Just please don't leave me
Don't look back or foward now
As long as we're alive

Dry

It's nice to know you're doing well
It's nice to know you're doing well
Losing sleep, listening to sad love songs alone
Losing weight, listening to your new friends
It's nice, real nice

You hurt the ones you loved most
It was such a long time ago
And it's nice to know you're doing well
It's real nice to know you're still doing well

See-Through

She covers her skin
with permanent ink
All to avoid the spotlight,
to avoid caring bout what they think
It's a contradicting thing
hiding from those eyes
Behind her detailed lines
It's a good story
about her life
She might look tough
but she'll give in without a fight

Mammon

"More and more"
Is all we ask for

"The grass is always greener"
As green as my emotion

"Life goes on"
While we struggle to strive

"Love is real"
Though we'll all never know it

"Money spins the world"
Which is why we're unhappy

"The world's a stage"
And we'll never know our truths

"Sex, drugs, rock n' roll"
I'll get it when I'm dead

Gold

This morning I woke up
To a new man
Who had your eyes

Har-Har

I thought we'd be fine
Since you stayed on that plane afterall
Didn't think you'd go through it
I expected you to turn back around without a try
But now when you call me while we're miles apart
And you cry on the line
Like you miss me
And you cry on the line
Like things have changed
Your brown eyes; they still roll back
I can tell from your slurs

The only man who's ever done what I have
Is the only man I've brought to tears
Is the only man I miss at night
Is the only man I've ever left
Is the only man I don't regret
When you say you've felt the same
I don't believe it from your so-called attempts

"What you do to yourself isn't right
Change is not a thing we know"
When the sun goes down I wonder how someone like you
Can mellow so easily into slumber
How can I love such a mindless monster
Keep saying, "Four years down the drain"
It only digs you deeper, baby
When you stick that needle in your vain tonight
Remember that's why I'm gone
Remember that's why you're there
