Lost Heart

A love adorn
Hatred skims the wall
A heart forlorn
And angels fall.

As days wear on,
Time passes by
A love so worn
Yet unable to travel
Over torturous miles ahead.

A heart scarred by hurt,
A love torn from trust,
Two hearts once won,
Are now only a loss
As one walks on
The other walks away

Sleepless In London

A night wasted in sorrow's sigh
A love that is no more
The morning’s cry-
A long full heart
To hope upon a star.

A love so blind,
Nothing is recognized,
Not even the face of time.
Distance between feels as eternity,
Though only a few hundred miles.

And yet
The turning tide engulfs the shore,
As night wears on a moment more.

Never Again

I wish you were here
I wish I had sat beside you yesterday
When I had the chance
I wish I had told you how I really felt
When you said you loved me at the dance.

More than once
I've wished I could shake the hands of time
Until they sent you back.
I'd give every quarter and dime I own
If only they would bring you home.

I regret many of the choices I have made.
I'm sorry for every time I ever hurt you;
I dearly wish I hadn't.
Now I'll have to live with the guilt
Until it's my time to go.
I just didn't know it would end this soon.
I thought I would have forever to make you mine
Death never even crossed my mind.
Now each time I close my eyes,
Your smile haunts my very soul.
For that I'm happy
It assures me I will never forget you
For that moment I know you are still with me
And forever my only love I know you will be.

I pass this on as a note
To all those who speak before they think,
Who shout, knowing it will cause someone else hurt
Sit beside the one you love,
Treat them like a magic glove.
Dance with them
If you have the chance
And if you love them,
Tell them how you really feel
For someday it will be the end;
You'll get the chance to do these things
Never Again.

Ordinary Guy

I see you in the hall
And the tears threaten to fall
I fight to keep them back
Throughout the day
How did things get this way?

Everyone thinks they know how I feel,
But none of it is real.
I fake a smile
And try to keep my feelings in file
All the while
Pieces of my heart break away

I take off this mask
I’ve worn so long
The questions are asked
As days wear on
The rage quivers and falls aside
I look at you and all I see
Is an ordinary guy.

Until Angels Close My Eyes

I shudder at the thought of losing you
And cry at the scene of your grave
When I think of you
I remember all the happy times we shared.

Even though I know you shall not play
Down here on earth again
The memories still live on
In my heart, mind, and soul.

I know I won't see you again in this lifetime
But I know I will when the angels close my eyes.

Even though you lay
Beneath the cold, cold ground
You still live on in me.

Goodbye for now, my dear friend
For I will see you again
When the angels close my eyes.

Anger

Anger

So often kept on such a tight leash
Once in a while I just lose control
More than once this beast
Has knocked me to my knees
Forgiveness is prayed for
Help is asked for
Yet I still cannot have full control.

It's what makes me yell and fuss,
Cut and cuss
It causes such sorrow
Things to live for
I must make up or borrow.

I bury my life in the valleys
Created by a blade
Aces and eights are a dead man's hand
I wish I had them all throughout the land
I wish I had the guts to finish what I start
To end it all
Because I don't
The snake creeps up my spine
Causing love and hate to intertwine.

Love Be Not a Fool

My heart yet longs for
Thee to hold my hand
Take me to another world
Distance between us stings
Still my love refuses any other
Though time plays it's wicked tricks
Love remains yours the same

As they turn
He looks back to see
A single teardrop fall upon my cheek
His smile fades
Onward the miles stretch

Heartbeats stop
Two become one
Even as they leave
Both feel just one heartbreak
As the other makes life go on

Their hated separation
Is only for a short while
Though the thought is for Eternity.
For neither distance nor time
Can change love's mind
Love, be not a fool.
