Balefire
What glory is a lighthouse with no storm to weather?
For there is no solace in harbouring a harpooned wanderer
Truth be told, I am the jaded sea-torn sailor
Yet they sing to me and call me the Balefire

Dear doldrums you call…..
In endless seas jetsam thoughts seek out the siren’s forever
Despite smooth tides and the steady marauder
Truth be told, I am the sea-sick star-gazer
Yet the sing to me and call me the Balefire
Doldrums
Doldrums
Dear doldrums you call…..
Washed ashore, these barren lands may guide me asunder
I can forget my qualms in search of treasure
Where windward dreams shall starve the fever
Truth be told, I am the moody-marooned mariner
Yet they sing to me and call me the Balefire
Doldrums
Doldrums
Dear doldrums you called…..
They say the ocean is home to many souls lost at sea
The Doldrums tell me there is no greater death than the one within me

Charlie Mackenzie Poem
From the chartreuse scene to a dusty bronze land
This the sky’s calling for their wings to soar, to disband
The sun is their shadow, they bathe in her honey-stained glory
Under the silence of the stars, they never surrender their flight story
The days are long, they travel beyond all rhyme or reason
This is their journey, in life and in season
Fragile hearts drum on in tawny twilight
From feathered soldiers by day, to winged spectres of the night
Come morning, they are ushered, ablaze by warm, crimson skies
In earthly kingdoms below, they are but the envy of every land creature’s eyes
The compass points north, over mountain and rooftop they climb
Beyond sun kissed valleys and storm swept seas they glide
This the tale of the swallow, for in every heart of one they do lovingly sing
A voyage of courage is what the swallow does bring
