Come To Pass

Like shooting stars my idols have come to pass
They left their mark then died too fast
Melodic chords and crooning voices
Their music lives on in a world full of choices
Songs of anger, songs of love, songs of sadness or all of the above
My idols have come to pass
Inspiring artists for many generations
From their own minds with musical creations
So their stars we admire from a distance
Only to follow with some resistance
My idols have come to pass

Home

Yearning for the feel of home.
This homesickness eats me to the bone.
I know i'll never feel it again, still this homesickness has no end.
I lay my head down at night not remembering what it was like.
But I still lay my head down at home at night.

She's a Diamond

Feeling like a clown, wearing nothing but a frown.
Everytime I get up someone puts me down.
I took a long ride on a lonely train.
For eleven years I had to feel the pain.
To want to go back I'd have to be insane.
Cause I got a girl now that can stop the rain.
She's one in a million.
She's a starlit sky.
If it were'nt for her I'd still be on that ride.
She's a diamond.
She's gold.
Loving her never gets old.

Maybe Someday

Maybe someday I'll touch the sky, like the eagle has wings and does fly.
Maybe someday I'll feel the appeal of the setting sun that is so real.
Maybe someday my dreams will come true and I will have a richer view.
Maybe someday I'll live on in the minds of others when I am gone.
Maybe someday I'll see the world.
Maybe someday death won't come so early for loved ones and friends and we'll all be
together in the end.

The Story of Rain

Tyler Jones
Rain the Story Contest Poem

I see Rain from time to time.
With pain in her eyes she can't leave behind.
She knows this world is a preamble to the next.
She's someone divine in a world full of rejects.
Her visions of tomorrow fulfill her very soul.
Knowing the next world won't be so cold.
When parting from Rain I'm always filled with sorrow
Knowing her new world could come tomorrow.

The Calm Before the Storm

From out of the womb we are born into a storm.
Like a cacoon emerges a butterfly.
Uncertain of what each day will bring.
We rise and except the offering.
The womb is the calm before the storm.
Where we form and are equipped with whatever we are dealt.
With only one way out.

Round Trip

It's a round trip on a one way ride
with no rhyme or reason one day you die
It's a mystery why we're all here
every day we strive cause it's how you survive
There's no escape even with your suicide
Cause the undertakers coming on your one way ride

Still In My Heart

We grew up together.
Then we drifted apart.
We went down our own roads.
But they're still in my heart.
As kids in school we saw each other everyday.
When graduation came we all went a seperate way.
Where we ended up was nothing like we planned.
Because growing up we thought we would have the world in our hand.
I reminisce those days, because I don't see them today.
If we had another chance it wouldn't have been this way.
But life throws curves.
I guess that's how it goes.
But they're still in my heart as our distance grows.
The memories we shared are all in the past.
Little did I know those memories would last.
That was back then.
Now I'm thirty years old.
Now just letting go.

Falling Ill

Subtle yet serious, all the while thinking
I slipped into depression.
I did not buy a ticket through these gates nor did I see them.
My thoughts are thinking my imagination into life
or my perception is real.
Lower than the bottom is how I feel.
Trespassing insanity or trespassing in sanity.
I take pills to correct a chemical imbalance.
Diagnostic devestation and a reprise visit
Misconceptual visits with ones self.
Relaying information through the gateways and further south
Fits of rage left me sullen and weary.
I slept through both day and night.
Only to awake in confusion with the new day.
Nothing short of good in a false reality is where my time stood still
All now corrected by a little pill.

Lonely Train

Love stays strange as the seasons change.
I ride that lonely train when the sun goes down.
I smoke a cigarette and think about the past.
These days are my future, which one will be my last.
Yesterday's gone, I heard it in a song.
I drink from the bottle when the pain comes along.
