Survival

I have a disguise
It keeps me safe from lesions
They look at my mask

The mask is gilded
Few will ask what's underneath
They look at my shoes

My shoes they are plain
Noone knows where I have walked
They look at my eyes

My eyes they look back
Opaque, smeared and inconstant
They ask me to speak

I open my mouth
And impart all my wisdom
They nod and depart

I drop my disguise
Sigh and collapse with relief
Tomorrow can wait

The Pilgrimage

Every six turns of the moon
A journey to the girl I take.
I leave behind my safe cocoon
Into the noise and into the fake.

The pungent smell of multicolours
Punching nose and mind alike.
I sit and pause in splendid parlours
Waiting for the joy to strike.

And strike it does, oh glory be.
Electric sparks and lowing moans.
At last she uses teeth on me.
Her gentle strokes, my buzzing bones.

Decisions made I walk to water.
She will wash my sins away.
She mentions something of her daughter,
I've never answered to this day.

In my goddess tank I float.
Blues and greens with sea and sand.
I am the castle, and they are the moat.
At last the call comes from the land.

She leads me to the gate and smiles.
Our deal is done, the job complete.
My world is lighter by the miles.
I smile and wave then walk the street.

My pilgrimage is at an end;
Returning to my warm cocoon.
She and I will meet again.
After six turns of the moon.

Last Reflections

The sun it sat high and so sparkling bright.
The birds were a chorus, an eddy of flight.
I met an old man with a very old coat
And a much older scarf tied real tight at his throat.

He said "My dear friend you can see I am poor.
I once had a wife and a dog and a store,
But all of these things are just memories now."
His voice died away and he gave me a bow.

I said to the man "You have nothing to fear.
For I follow Christ and his meaning is clear.
Lift yourself up by the straps if need be
And all of Gods fruits in the morning you'll see."

The old man just grinned, his yellow teeth sickly.
He said "Well young man let us settle this quickly."
The last thing I thought before death had his way
"To hell with the person who taught me me to pray."

Tell Them

Tell them
Open their eyes
See the truth hear the facts
Listen to the wise ones always
Tell him

Tell him
Always be kind
Shine with the brighter stars
Let the man match his own shadow
Tell her

Tell her
How to be strong
And how to hold her own
Give her gifts of light and power
Tell me

Tell me
Which side you picked
Why do you palter so
Our time was rich but now it's done
Tell them
