Good Deeds

Good Deeds are so precious
They are wonderful things
All are filled with compassion
Oh!...the happiness they bring!

They can not be corrupted
You can't buy them with cash
They are gifts...they are blessings
And they come in a flash!

Good Deeds have a Voice
And they whisper so clear
Of great tragedies, deep poverty
Things wrapped up in fear!

They tell of the darkness;
Deep sorrows - fierce pains
They will whisper of wishes
That have turned into shame

Some tell of the hopeless
Knowing not what to do
They don't realize they are waiting
For someone like you

When desperate times...Oh!
Destructions...they come!
Good Deeds with compassion
Will bring hope to some

A Good Deed can be all
That it takes at times
They will help others turn
From the dark to sunshine!

Do keep an ear open
Keep an eye open too;
They may tell of a Good Deed
That is waiting for you!

How sweet are the feelings
That comes from Good Deeds
As you bless someone else
By fulfilling their needs

Good Deeds are quite precious
Very powerful things...
They are filled with compassion
See? The hope that they bring?

How Do You Say Goodbye

How do you say goodbye to someone you've loved
With whom you have shared your life
Is a goodbye enough or "I'll see you around"
After walking together through strife?

How do you say goodbye to a person who held
Such a great big space in your heart
Do you offer a hug, or a goodbye kiss
Or a wave of the arm as you part?

Who knew when you met and proceeded to walk
Down that road filled with places and things
That you'd find such a friend with the same cares as you
A relation unending it seemed

How do you say goodbye to that loved one or friend
Do you pretend that all is okay
Would you hold back the words and let silence prevail
Even though you have things left to say?

Did you have the chance to say your goodbye
To someone you thought was so true
Were you sad when you realized that you had to part
Or did it not bother you?

Was the goodbye you had a sudden thing
That came at you out of the blue?
Or was it a slow one - built up over time
Not hurting as much, cause you knew

What is it you do if they're taken from you
You're unable to say your goodbye
You can hope in your heart that they knew how you felt
But now - only tears left to cry

Did you watch as the love started slipping away
Wondering how could this possibly be
After all the good times - all the trials we went through
Was I really unable to see?

One thing is for sure, new days come - old days go
And love will be lost and found
It's important to know that you gave it your best
No matter what life brings around

Now it's time to let go and move on with your life
After all - tomorrows do come
How you face it today is the healing for you
Goodbye is the right thing for some

Your Time To Shine

What will you do when it’s your time to shine?
Do you have all your words written down in your mind?
Have you planned for the day when they call on your name?
To lift up a soul and help hide someone’s shame?

Is it easy for you to just stand up and speak?
Anytime, anywhere – any day of the week?
What about when you’re asked to give your point of view
On the many events that take place in the news?

If you’re asked to speak on the ‘good news’ of Christ
To those who yet walk in the world, full of vice.
Do you have rhyming words or a sweet song to sing?
As you share the news of our Resurrected King?

These questions I ask are to keep us in mind
Of the Great Commission given to all mankind!
That our King returns with Victory in His hand,
And all will bow down with their knees in the sand

Giving glory to God – Who truly loved us all
Even though disobedience caused us to fall.
Yet He gave all He had even Everlasting Life.
He forgave us our sins – He took away our strife.

His command said “go forth in the world, filled with love
And be as wise as serpents – but gentle as doves”.
So what will you do when it’s your time to shine?
When God opens up Heaven and says “This child is Mine?”

In Fantasy Land

There is a place where one can go
To laugh, to hope, to always know
There’s nothing too hard for you to stand
When you dare to come to Fantasy Land.
Oh Yes, do come to Fantasy Land.

Come soar with me to heights unknown
To ecstasies not yet full blown
To dreams, and schemes and wondrous plans
They’re here – right here in Fantasy Land.
There’s laughter here in Fantasy Land.

There is a place with song, and dance
And moonlit nights made for romance
And all these things are at your command
If you believe in Fantasy Land.
The air is fresh in Fantasy Land.

With sunlit days and starlit skies,
And streams and lakes; palm trees so high
And oyster pearls to hold in your hand
But you must believe in Fantasy Land
The sun is here in Fantasy Land.

Imagine your troubles are melting away
With thousands of moonbeams lighting your way
Whatever you need, or want and plan
Is yours, when you come to Fantasy Land.
Enhance your mind in Fantasy Land.

For what do you have if not today?
Those sorrows and problems can fade away
For a time, at least – yes, feel the sand – on the beach
It’s here, in Fantasy Land.
Across the bridge, in Fantasy Land

The Goat That Lives Next Door

Hello my friend, good day to you; I see you got my note
It's time we had a face to face about that crazy goat!

He made a mess, broke in my barn; ate up my buds and cans
And when I tried to chase him out, he kicked my bloomin' fan

Now see here Mr. Farmin' Man, I know you from way back
But if you don't restrain that goat - I'll stretch his scrawny neck!

Me and that goat been fightin' long; he thinks he won this time
So I'll show him today for sure that I'm still in my prime

That goat won't get the better of me; I'll trap him with some hay
I'll lay a path straight to the barn and lead him in that way

Oh darn! He's smarter than I thought, he ate up to the door
He stopped and turned then shook his tail like he don't want no more

Aww shucks - there's got to be a way to trap that crazy goat
He's found new ways into my barn - I'll send another note

This time though Mr. Farmin' Man, I will not shout and wail
I'm goin to git the Sheriff now and throw that goat in jail!

Baseball

To see the game, you have to plan
It takes some time you see
This is for all the die-hard fans
You'll need a strategy

To stand in line for baseball
Can be a timely task
You first must get the tickets
To clear your way to pass

Excitement now before the game
Which section are you in?
The dugout group or foul ball side
Row 5, seats 9 and 10

Concession stands are all around
Decide which should be first
Tee shirts and hats or hot dogs
You'll have to quench your thirst

Now don't forget the plans you made
Cause folks are filled with glee
You'll drink your beer, your coke and sprite
But then you'll have to pee

Another line to wait in
The porta potties blue
Don't get distracted from your plan
They'll jump in front of you

Oh Wow! Another "homer"
My team is going to win
Can't wait for seventh inning stretch
I have to pee again

Great game it was they played today
Our team is now the star
We're tired but we have to go
It's time to find the car

To All Our Poets True

When I sit still and calmly read the works of Poets True
It is nice to know I'm not alone because of all of you
There are stories being told here in such different forms and ways
We have happy times, some joy and pain, and some for special days

There are some who write in Haiku, there are those who love Quatrain
We have those who write sweet Sonnets telling us about the rain
But we also have some Poets True who write as though they sing
With a Rhyme Royal or Limerick that will cause your ears to ring

How about the Free Verse Poets and the Funny Poets too
Those Acrostics and the Metaphors that can help the sun shine through
There are Ballad Poems and Lyrics truly wonderful to find
And the Epic Poems and Tanka's that will stir things in your mind

On a quiet night with softened light we'll read an Ode or two
Or a Villanelle or Couplet that someone has shared with you
What about those Nature Poets who can rhyme about the Earth
How the flowers grow in colors even different kinds of dirt

We have those who write of waterfalls; and sounds that fill the air;
Of deep mysteries and great mercies that reveal how we should share
Some are Kyrielles and Kwansabas that find their way to you
Those Alliteration Poets can help you think of things to do

We have Poets True from nations far that share the things they see
There are dreamers here with mighty words that say we can be free
We read Love Poems so sweetly said they cause your heart to melt
They will talk of Love lost or Love found that's truly deeply felt

Well, I could go on forever speaking of the Poems found
Here on Poetry Soup with you and these true treasures that abound
But I guess I'll stop and thank you all for sharing what you do
And I'll say right here that we are blessed - We all are Poets True!

Oh Yahweh, To You I Give Thanks

For the breath I took when I opened my eyes, to start this new Today
For the smile in my heart from knowing Your angels protect me along the way

I am able to stand up, to walk and run; to lift up my arms toward the sky
In this blessing of movement bestowed upon me, there is nothing that I cannot try

I thank You that I can experience life; to laugh, and hug, and dance
To share Your love with humanity - I am willing to take the chance

I praise You for those that share in my life, whose love and support I have found
And the helping hands that hold me up - when trying times get me down

Though the love of my life has passed away to join You in Heaven's Rest
I give thanks to You for the years we shared, for we gave each other our best

There are those who live in fear and pain; many souls who are lost and forlorn
In Your Word You said Christ is always with us, and so they are not alone

I thank You for hearing our prayers Holy One; sometimes we pay You no mind
But Your thoughts toward us are more than the sand, and they stand the test of time

So thank You, Great Yahweh, Creator of all - the Heavens, the Earth and the Seas
For giving Your Son, Your Spirit, Your Word, and providing for all of our needs

Singing praises to You, Father Yahweh, I'll sing praises to You everyday
To You I give thanks and to Christ, Your Son, for helping us find our way

Too Soon, My Love - Too Soon

So, here we are again, my dear
Our wondering hearts are trembling with fear
Of the step we took in the pale moonlight
Now, beholding each other in the bright sunlight.

Remember our plan? We'll take it slow
We'll allow our hearts and love to grow
Without the pressure of passion released
Too soon - but now, where do we go?

Is it time for us now to say good bye -
Do we gather ourselves and give it a try;
Are we done, my love, and now we start
On a future that tears our love apart?

Oh, help me now to understand
How we lost control of our senses and
That now, our passion being fulfilled
We ponder if our love is stilled.

Yes, here we are again, sweet dear,
Two wondering hearts now filled with fear
For the step we took while under the Moon
Was it too soon, my love - too soon?

I See You

I see you
Do you see me peeking at you
From behind the rose bush?
Look at your lovely hair - a tousled mess
Those eyes, gleaming in the afternoon sunlight

I pull on your apron strings
Perchance a small smile
Oh no! Not a frown from you

I see you
Did you know that I was watching you
When you were busy making chocolate cake?
Just look at your sweet face
Flour on your nose and cheek

I squeeze your arm tightly
Mayhaps I get the spoon
Thank you for keeping me close

I see you
You don't know that I am looking at you
Wrapped up in your blanket
So cozy and warm - a quiet nod
A peaceful time for you

Can hardly wait for you to waken
I'll find a hiding place
So I can watch again

Book: Reflection on the Important Things
