Wildman

The Wildman
Left the mountains
In search of love and wonder,
Not in any particular order.
Now, he patrols the borders of a gas station, hooked on fuel.
Shadows act like Mother,
stretching out protection from judgemental eyes.
The attendants berate and moan his missteps with fatherly abandon.
Our champion is not alone though.
His brethren, the rats
have his back.
His brethen, the rats
have his back.
Like clockwork,
he slinks out of the darkness,
piece of his tattered rags in hand.
Backs turned, soaks up the spoilage.
Evades capture with cheetah spirit.
Embryo warmth ensues post huff.
For but an instance,
Stillness marinates his neurons.
All to quick,
A marionettist's touch with weasel cunning, pulls him to his feet.
He paints the constellations in the morning light...
He used up his last piece of cloth,
a few hour ago.
He stares down a truck,
with the ammo of ball bearing irises
snarling at invisible sprits with evil intentions,
all the while,
his bulbous protea is covered with lice-ridden tangled thicket,
and rabbit droppings blanket the tarmac.
Good morning Vietnam.

Jungle Gym

Towering
Heavenly wood
Mount Olympus
awaits
Hermes hustles
Wings flailing
Seeking higher ground
Elemental gossip.
Aphrodite's eros oozes
bombastically from the cargo net
onlookers salivate.
Poseidon glares from the pit
monitoring his realm
for rapacious rambunctious rascals.
Apollo's mirth emanates
atop the monkey bars
emotions elevate.
Ares hangs by fingertips
below
scanning for signs of his
next blow.
Persephone checks herself
slide in-view
wandering if she'd ever get that
tattoo.
Hades peers up through the cracks
from down bellow
Lamenting on his bad boy role.
Artemis finds her center
in no time stat
balance beam barely buckles.
Sticky quicksand
swallows my feet.
The arena's stacked.
Better get a move on
Mom's sure to call
grape juice slurped
bugger all.

Your Father In Hermanus

Where the hefty lumps of fat?
Eyes strain through kaleidoscopic beams
As he takes in the scene.
Frayed Lonely Planet clasped tightly
Knuckles whitening.
'a breeding ground for one of the largest mammals on the face of the planet'
he recalls feverishly
clickbait sigh
To his dismay...
a garden of kelp legs swaying with the tide of "Afrikaans is dood, Afrikaans is groot".
hole-ridden threads giving glimpses of body murals to long-forlorned deities and bugs bunny.
six shots and one dump later
across the hazy, salty coat of cover...
a sighting...
reeks of threat-level status
a show will ensue
as he fishes for that bag of glue.
