Lost In My Thoughts

I'm an insider,
Locked up within the walls of my mind,
Wandering around within my head,
With many other me; each with his own advice…
In a clear language, spoken at the same time.
And I never get to understand.

Just as a movie hall,
Dark and harmless, with a trace of dim light from a blank screen awaiting a display.
So is my mind.
With my head crowded with multitude of same person,
Having the same voice, speaking the same language,
Their minds matching forte like soldiers ready for war.
Each, striking with whatever he has.
All, fighting for same course with different weapons.
Seem like a battle field, at the most intensed moment of war.
There is never silence.

Some screaming at the top of their voices,
Others gentle and soft, pleading to be heard.
How do I handle it all?

All are happening within the four walls.

Outside the walls are well painted with bright colors.
Decorated with bouquets,
With the fragrance of sweet rose covering the activities of the inside as though a blanket,
Protecting people from what’s going on the inner.

But has anyone ever thought of what could be within the beautiful walls?
Only a few did, they made a little enquiry and left,
While some hoped that one day, the walls could crack and they’ll have a peep of the inside.
But that will never happen.

For the walls are strong,
Enough to contain the pressure and the heat and beats from the inside.

I am the wall.
Giving what you need to see,
Like a hacked footage, displaying to the viewers what need to see,
Conceding the actual events.

My world is as the night,
A lot of activities going on at the same time.
No one knows, because they’re fast asleep.
Only the night walkers can know a bit of the happenings.

I hear my cries,
And I hear a voice consoling me,
Sounds like my voice, or who could that be?
For I am a loner.

It told me to listen to the voices within that I, may find the answers I seek.
But how can I concentrate?
When I’m lost in my thoughts.

Oh Nigeria

Oh! Nigeria
Those were sons and daughters of men,
Who died fighting for their rights in their fatherland.
Sons and daughters of the soil hose whose rights and voices have been taken away.

“Arise, O. compatriots”
When we don’t have food to keep us alive; yet when we tried to rise,
We got shoot at, locked up in chains irons and thrown in jail.

“Nigeria’s call obey”
When the leaders have clearly disobeyed and hard shut us up;
With guns and soldiers ordered to shoot us all.

“To serve our fatherland”
Yet, youth corpers are been killed in the North.
And all the government can do is to tell us to make friends with bandits, if kidnapped or tell our parents to keep our ransom.

“With love and strength and faith”
We can’t give what we do not have, how can they tell us love, when our siblings have been killed, some tortured, while others jailed for an act they did out of love and service of their fatherland.
Or strength, when our minimum wage, can’t buy us a bag of rice to eat, or when we’re not adequately remunerated for the service rendered.
Or our teachers’ salary being withheld.
Where then will the strength come from?
Faith, when cost of living keep rising and the standard of living falling to the depth, with no measures taken to put things in place.
Hope is dead and faith seems not to exist, as thing keep getting worse by the passage of time.

“The labor of our heroes past shall never be in vain”
Yes, it’s not in vain, but the fruits of the labors have been eaten up men who we placed over it.
And still tell us to arise o. compatriots.

“To serve with heart and might”
The servants now serve with greed, leaving those who did with their hearts and might hungry and can’t even get a good treat for a job well done at the end of their service.

Quest

Man, a creature of wonders.
Always seeking knowledge in the mysteries of the universe.
While digging into the things that could cause its end.
You go far in search of who you are,
Bringing discomfort to the comfort of nature while seeking comfort.
Trying to acquire what we desire,
You lose your sanity and sanctity to vanity.
Knowledge is power:
Yes!
But what you don’t know is more powerful than you are.
The quest to know the unknown could counter the known.
If you don’t unlearn what you’ve learned to learn.
Enjoy the peace of ignorance, in the serenity of the unknown,
For the universe never makes mistakes;
She could be keeping you for safety.

A Tale With the Mirror

All I thought was going to last forever has been long gone,
Only those that are yet to come.

Here standing before the mirror,
Staring at the reflection of the younger me;
We found the truth in our eyes,
For we had nothing to hide.
His eyes were gentle and mild,
With an aura of strength and courage that filled the space.

Still standing and looking,
I saw the darkness taking over the space,
With his joy fading away with haste;
As failed promises filled the place, and sadness clouds his face.
Many had come and gone,
Each leaves behind memories and trunks of unfulfilled promises.
For words are sweet and plain,
Like pure honey dripping from a melting comb,
So are their words
Flowing directly into the roads to his heart;
Leaving it soft and easier for them to crack.
Just as they came, they left;
Without leaving at least a goodbye kiss,
Or with a notice, and they left him to find within a peace.
Everything seems to be untrue now…
He has lost his faith in people,
Seems no one meant his words.
Love, care, and affection is a felony,
For the tortures and pain and shame, are enormous
But there was no one to calm him down.
Once more, steered into his eyes,
Found within, a heart of gold,
So cold.
His mind getting so old,
But he had no one to hold.
Wolves and lions now come, disguising as goats and sheep.
It has become so hard to know the true ones,
For they all come with same lines, and rhymes,
Flowing smoothly like water falling heavily off the cliff, on rocks.
With steady interesting sounds that could get you in the moment,
And swiftly carry you away once you get into it.
What a danger! For it gets hold of you and leave you shattered.
He got so used to it, he could rehearse same old lines on their sight
Then recite them along in his mind,
Like movies, they act to his scripts.
Because, they’ve made him the playwright.
I had a deep breathe,
It sounded to him like the sound of a gentle breeze,
Such that brings joy and hope.
Looking up to his eyes once again,
We steered deeply at each other,
As I recited same old lines.
Tears dropped from eye lead like rains
Softly and gently.
We were filled with joy,
For it’s the first time we heard the truth.
I could feel the connection, affecting, attention that we both seek,
The love filled the air.
It smelled like a garden of roses by the river side.
He responded with a smile,.
We knew we’ve got each other,
And the peace we searched for in miles,
Was found within.

All I’ve got is me,
For I am who I need.
