Michael Price Poem
Chance to Dance
I could have been different if given the chance
If you only said yes to just one dance
I built up the courage to finally ask
Just one dance, such an easy task
The echo of NO ran through the gym floor
I still heard the others laughing as I exit the door
Just one dance with the prettiest girl in the room
I wasn't asking to be your groom
Laughter still lingers from the others I told
For the pain to lift, my soul I would have sold
I may have never been the man I could
Yes would have changed everything, it would

Michael Price Poem
The Edge
I've been to the bottom
I screamed at the top
My lungs have been full
To let out a sigh
The hair was pulled tight
Strands in my fingers
But the pain doesn't linger
Don't judge or give the finger
I've been close to the edge
One or two toes over
The bottom seemed endless
Just closer to the edge
Stepped back

Michael Price Poem
I hear the flapping of wings
As your heart starts to sing
A light tickle on the back of my ear
I can tell that your presence is near
A calming touch on the shoulder
Once warm has grown colder
Not by choice, you left so fast
I knew that the disease wouldn't last
I know now that you're better
Running around with your hair getting wetter
A simple whisper of your wings will do
As I ask, mom is that you

Michael Price Poem
We fade to Black
As we lose another Blue
A band put on for respect
Not knowing who it will affect
Responding to the unknown
A family member on the receiving phone
A HERO in Blue without a cape
His fate could not escape
A loss of a friend, a partner, a Blue
A hero send off call 10-42
Taken too young he's back
A life as we fade Black

Michael Price Poem
You were dealt a bad hand
Cancer was never grand
The day you turned thirty
The call came in ten times the hurty
You were quite brave
And new how to behave
You said that it was fine
That was your approach sweet Coraline
The battle was not as easy
But there you stood strong even when queasy
You never got to dance with your dad
He made the best of what you had
Never easy to take it all in
But you said I'm fine, cards dealt, I win
As the last words, you spoke
Superman broke

Michael Price Poem
A sea of Blue line the city streets
A motorcade escorts him through
Bagpipes and drums ready to be heard
As white gloves line the hats brim
All in sync a salute to NYPD Blue
A saddened day that should not have come
A young man taken from
Prayers and tears look beyond
In a sea of true, feel the Blue

Michael Price Poem
I know that kid over there
It's me at one point
He has that same blank stare
Laughing on the outside
Crying on the in
Running in my mind
Looking for a place to hide
These shoes look different
But the rest still remains
Looking through a glass jar
That is cracked at the bottom
Hey kid don't remember me
I won't forget the past me

Michael Price Poem
The Covid Wind
A gentle breeze that makes you sneeze
Is that face covered are you diseased
In my shirt, it did go no worries bro
Sani wipes for me I got a whole pack
Spray those hands are they washed though
On the line for my vaccine
I said six feet back yourself up
Still waiting for the second dose
Make sure you cover that nose
It's just the springtime sniffles
I need a Claritin and some tissues
This whole pandemic people now have issues
To those who drive with a mask
Take it down it's a simple task
One day we'll all breathe again

Michael Price Poem
I await with bated breath to stand on the shores
The land where my mother's last name bores
To watch a blade of grass that he may have sowed
Or watch the waves crest on the among the crowd
To visit the place that he docked
That long voyage to start where he rocked
Distant clouds the ones I see
They may have been the same ones that set him free
I'll never meet the man that started it all
But I'll feel his presence all around home in Cornwall

Michael Price Poem
Are you coming back to me
Like you promised you would
I cried as much as the sea
I guess the wings were made of wood
I waited by the door
I laid upon the hardwood floor
I left the light on just like I said I would
I would have lit the sky if I could
The pain has yet to go away
You said I would be okay
If you loved me like you said you did
I'll wait for you by the room amid
I'll wait until I can't see
Just please come back to me
