Srivarshini Sakthivel Poem
Because no matter the cost,
I loved you through the storm,
But you gave me nothing but pain.
My eyes hazy with unshed tears for you,
And my heart heavy with hurt by you,
I walked away.
I didn’t know it then, but I know it now.
That you were the reason my soul never seemed to smile,
And you were the cause my heart never truly felt at peace.
I was at war with myself.
Should I battle my love for you,
Should I battle myself for loving you?
I never knew,
Because at the end of the day,
I didn’t matter, not for you anyway,
Neither did what I held for you.
I let you break me,
Thinking that you will put me back together,
But you broke me in such a way that even the angels could do nothing but watch.
So, I left you.
I left you and I walked away,
And I have never felt such an immense calm before.
I don’t regret it, leaving you that is.
And now I know that love never comes without consequences,
Some we are willing to take, some we are not.
Because life is not a fairytale.

Srivarshini Sakthivel Poem
Leaves of gold and bronze,
Fill the palace in half,
And flowers with alluring scents,
Fill the other half.
Ruled by a Queen with an iron fist,
Her eyes alight with a playful glint,
She likes to play with people’s souls,
And tows them along wherever she goes.
While deathly pale coats her skin,
Her beauty remains dangerously lethal.
The night warriors at her bell,
The moon’s followers wait for her call.
While angels and demons may fight a war,
The victory and glory will always be hers.
If death and darkness befall her kingdom,
She will riot with hell’s fire.
Burning everything that stands in her way,
She wears a dress made of silken ash,
And will then smile a dagger sharp smile,
For she is the venomous Queen of ice.

Srivarshini Sakthivel Poem
The streets were empty and cold,
With no life or soul,
As she walked to her home,
From a very long day.
Her feet took her to the rooftop,
Where she sat and wondered,
How could one not like the midnight?
For midnight hues were the only comfort she knew.
The half moon afloat,
In the dark onyx sky,
Where the stars blinked up at her,
As if daring her to step forth,
And taste the freedom the night has to offer.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath,
Filled with calm and peace,
She felt a sense of belonging,
Here in the open, the stars and the moon,
Her brothers and sisters, and the sky,
A shield to protect her from the world's cruelty,
Her heart was finally happy.
As the serene of her mind,
Consumed her body and soul,
The silence of the midnight,
Became a lullaby for her deranged mind,
She welcomed the darkness with open arms,
For it has always been her friend.

Srivarshini Sakthivel Poem
What is the difference between light and dark when both can destroy just as powerful?
How can angels and demons be the epitome of good and evil when both can kill just as cruel?
They say that every story has a protagonist and an antagonist, but my story only has me. Does that mean I am both?
If the devils were disguised as heroes, who were the heroes disguised as?
If I was a monster for expressing any emotions, how are you a goddess by hiding yours?
What is worse, the evil in the devil, or the devil who is evil?
If it is a sin to love something dark, why is it not a sin to love the flames of love itself?
These answers, I never knew,
For I was far too gone, to be me anymore.
