Almost

almost
but caught on a dime, stopped in time. almost but not quite mine.
almost
captured a room, heart in a tomb. almost want to head to the moon, but not quite,
almost
one in a crowd, just too loud. almost but seized before proud. i'm not right just
almost
& always left behind, maybe next time. almost to the end of the line. i'll be fine, i'm almost.
just.
almost
just shy of too pretty & not quite the kind of smile you can bring home to mother but almost.
elusive 1st place & always taking up space. second in every race. why do i try? my prize will forever be marked that i'm
almost.
better then she but hopeful little me is only the perfect outfit with 1 missing thing, an
almost.
or why bother? "try again you ungrateful daughter"
almost
better then. always the 9 but never the 10. a choice after 1st, we call 2nd. never best or special chosen. just
almost.
what comes before end? after the 1 who wins? i almost did; fell short again. the 'disappointment' state i live in.
don't worry, for you i'll give in. i always do, i know my place. over i've played this game. waiting for cold & dense rain, so i can wash away these thoughts in my brain that maybe this once i can be "1" & feel what it's like to be on the other side of... almost.

Letters To Bryson

If I knew what to say to let you go
I’d do it like a shot Better fast than slow
But you twist my tongue and my words get caught
And my heart and my brain confuse all my thoughts
If my steps would retrace all the mistakes we made
and i was strong enough to escape this place
I’d run to the time before you were Tu
And instead of kissing Bryson I'd walk right past you
I do not remember what my friend looks like
But I remember how it felt alone all night
And I don't care one second to hear your excuse
Like how you abandoned me I'm turning you loose
For three years I let you do as you pleased
I let you beat and sell and make me bleed
My head was your football my body your toy
You treated me worse than your whipping boy
How dare you forget that I was your wife
I bled myself dry trying to save your life
You knew what it meant when you passed me that pipe
As long as we? What a pretty little lie
There’s so much I could say and more I could do
But what matters the most
Is that I'm still better than you
Try to remember that day at home
When I held MY kids as you choked my throat
I dared you then like i dare you now
Bryson listen close this won’t be loud
Come for me, B, let’s play your game
You taught me well, I'll put you to shame
I’m not afraid of you And you don’t scare me
I am I. On my own and no more We
And I won't apologize for letting you go
I hope with everything, this tortures you, slow
Your soft paws turned to stone, right before my eyes
Crushing blow after blow and still I rise
I would pity you but you deserve even less than that
I’m coming for My son and we’re not turning back
I’ll be the one to break this chain
And when I'm done with this Boy
he won’t remember your name
Your biggest mistake was thinking me kind
and forgetting how sick and twisted this brain is of mine
I should thank you for teaching me what evil can do
You should know, I survived it, in spite of you
All the games and chess moves and pieces and pawns
My intelligence grew and now you’re outdrawn
But your own Hell will come for you, when you look for me
in all of the people you will continue to meet
But you’ll never find me and I pray that you see
In your effort to fool me and run me to death
You brought all this torture upon your self
Monsters are what they call people like me
Damaged, smart, between Hell and the Sea
So, take a good look, this is what you made me
I’ll do it nice and slow
Bryson, watch me leave
