Robinson Island

I had an Ananas
Served by a Barefooted waiter
Around a Bonfire
When the Boats came in
Through the clear waters
The Cameras went Click Click
As the Crabs ran into the sea
We dried our towels on the Dwarf palms
The Excitement made the Fishermen drink Safari Cane
And Goody joined the Giriama dance.
And the German swung in the green Hammock
There was Hot water in the showers at midnight
Children of the Island don’t like to fish
She taught me the value of the Mangrove
As we sunk the seeds in the Mud
The New age walls are something
And Omari loved Riding in the boat
Forgot all about the Rusted shower heads
Sleeping under nets in the Sand
Alerted us to Sunrise
And Seashells tattooed our faces
The Salty water and Smoke
Soaking in the Sun and building Sandcastles
With Sea weed from sparkling sea water
Telling Tales under a star studded sky
Terse smiles from in-laws who were shy
The Watermelon was super.

Poem

I’m gonna re-write my story
Write it in bold letters on iron tablets
See, the past has been reeling me in too many times
Spiraling me inside it’s vortex like a helpless leaf in a storm.

Nights of tearful contemplations, breathless internal fights
Disclosing and admitting fears embedded within me,
Tonight I’m re-writing my story.

See, I may not have started out clean cut and definite, pre-meditated.
I may not have been of good stock
But I look upon the stereotypes with aghast.
For now the small bits and pieces have been stitched together-
And reinforced with strong seams.

Yeah, I may not spell and say words correctly.
I may not put together colors alright,
But inside; The colors match, the words make sense
Tonight, I loosen this rope

Holding Hands

Light,weightless feelings
Spongy thoughts floating
Soaring like dry sea weed, jacaranda seed
Sick
Thoughts of you
Something
Something that wants to get out
Emotions,warmth
Listening.
To your call
I follow
Coz love,loves breaks
Love squeezes past barriers
Dreams,thoughts
Remind me of past love
Future love. love that could be.
But flowers have
Lights have dimmed
Lights that shone
If lights really shone
May a light shine
A sunrise
Orange and red
Shimmering water
Sand below my feet
I touch you.
My ever green vine
On which love grows.

Let’s roll,let’s skip
Let’s greet the sun
With a splash of salty water
Silence
Deep.
Deep slumber
At the earth’s beginning.

We Are No Longer Friends

I can’t sleep tonight
She says.
Because he smiled,and said
Will see you tomorrow then
Before he waved and disappeared
Into the crowd of night runners
And she looked at his back
Wishing,
Praying that she sees another day
And to see him,
And to wear that new dress
To show him she can be feminine
To bend the line of buddyism.

I can’t sleep tonight,
She says
Because when he smiled
It was a nervous crack
A smile o a beautiful woman.

Tonight she thinks,
That he knows,
Their friendship is over
She won’t sleep tonight.
