My Attempt At a Limerick

the neighbor's grass is always greener
and their house is always cleaner
but just remember
that come December
their family won't be any leaner

Two Sides To Me

me
cold, angry
scowling, screaming, dying
winter demon, spring angel
smiling laughing, living
warm, happy
me

Always Faithful

when all the lights fade
and only darkness remains
when you're left all alone
and nobody else is there
that's when you'll find me

I live in shadows
deep in the dark
no friends, no family
nobody here but me

I'm always here
I'm always faithful
only to you

you're everything
to me

everything

The Darkening Storm

as rain begins to fall from the sky
my forgotten memories make me cry
I feel forsaken and I don't know why
my entire body begs to die
as tears slowly fall from the sky

the rain comes down harder still
and I force down a bitter pill
a pill of sorrow and regret
of all the fears I've never met
of what I should have always been
all just memories in the end

the sky blackens with the storm
and I begin to slowly mourn
everything that has been torn
my heart, my soul, is all forlorn
as I darken with the storm

near the end of the day
the rain begins to ebb away
but the darkness lingers still
and I wonder why, until
I realize with a start
that the darkness is my heart

A Town Called Suicide Pt. 1

welcome to a town called Suicide
where broken dreams
come to die
where men shed a tear
but they never cry
where hope is seen
but it's all a lie
this town shall be the end of the road
for you and I

welcome to a town called Suicide
this town is filled
with shadowed halls
broken steeples
and bloody falls
darkened corners
end every road
while demons' shadows
grace every abode
from the sky
falls a blackened rain
while more people come
to end their pain

welcome to a town called Suicide
where broken people
come to die
where everyone sheds a tear
but they never cry
where life is seen
but it's all a lie
this town is the end of the road
for both you and I

Such Beautiful Eyes

such beautiful eyes
mask so many lies

such beautiful eyes
slice through your emotional ties

such beautiful eyes
darken from life's stormy skies

such beautiful eyes
glisten from too many cries

such beautiful eyes
glaze over when your heart finally dies

such beautiful eyes
such deceptively beautiful eyes

A Dark and Dreadful Place

I have fallen deep inside my soul
a place where if you stay it takes its toll
a dark place
or so it seems
where the dogs bark
and the wind screams
where life itself
is torn at the seams
it's a dreadful place
or so it seems

but you wouldn't know
because it's a place where you can't go
a dreadful place
where babies die
the fathers don't care
but the mothers cry
every one is happy
but they all lie
a dark place
where I can die

I have fallen deep inside my soul
a place where if you stay it takes its toll
but you wouldn't know
because it's a place where you can't go

A Town Called Suicide Pt. 3

welcome to Suicide
take your time
and enjoy the view
because there is no way out
for the phantom or you
for staying in this town
your soul is due
so welcome to Suicide
enjoy the view

welcome to Suicide
this place has been your home
for many years
after you ended your life
filled with tears
this town took you in
it was your only reprieve
so the question is
why would you leave
Suicide holds the answers
to what you're trying to see
the truth is you're the phantom
and he's all you want to be

welcome to Suicide
take your life
and enjoy the view
because there's still no way out
for the phantom or you
for staying in this place
your soul is due
so welcome to Suicide
hope you enjoy the view

A Town Called Suicide Pt. 2

a silent phantom
walks the halls
watching his world
as darkness falls

he's the oldest resident
of a town called Suicide
and he of all people
knows there's no place to hide

nowhere to hide
from the sins of his past
the cold black memories
are all that will last

he remembers what he was
a happy young man
before he ended his life
and all this began

now he wanders the streets
all alone
looking for some way
to atone

to atone for his past
and his mistakes
before the last shred of his heart
finally breaks

Right There

I wake up
to a dark room
I look over
at an empty pillow
you were just here
silently sleeping
angelic
right there
sharing a dream with me
but now emptiness is all that remains

I sit up
bed springs groan
I glance around
the dark room is lit
by lightening from an approaching storm
rain begins to patter the roof
and there's no sign of you
but I can still smell your perfume
it lingers in the air
right there
right where you were
assuring me you're here
somewhere

I get up
cross to the bedroom door
I open it
and step into the living room
still searching
for you
my eyes scan the room
and finally light upon you
you're right there
where you always are
sitting on the window sill
watching the rain
you always loved the rain

I move next to you
the scent from your perfume grows stronger
I pick you up
and my arms fold perfectly
around your slender body
but you're cold
so cold
lightening flashes
and metal catches my eye
I read the engraving for the millionth time
Becky Gise
1991-2009
cremated by her own wishes
she was right there
and then she was gone

I cradle you in my arms
and walk back to the bedroom
I lay you down
on your pillow
next to me
where you should always be
my eyes close
and I begin to drift back to sleep
finally safe
finally content
because you're always
right here
