Ravenous Clocks

Time goes sprinting by.
Like an animal it flees.
Seconds Minutes Hours Days.
Quickly ticked away.
The clock is a hungry mouth.
Eating away all the time.

Eagerly it goes.
Swiftly sailing, soaring. Gone.
A thousand years in a blink.
Then your time is spent.
You can only hope to know,
Exactly where your time went.

What You Do

The clock on the wall ticks away the time,
But still I sit here trying to find the perfect rhyme.
The words I want just won’t seem to come,
And I feel like my mind is coming undone.
But these words have to be just right for you.
The hardest part though will be keeping them true.
I know what I should say, what you want to hear.
But those words aren’t right, they express no fear.
And let me say that I am terrified of you,
Because to me you don’t realize what you do.
The power that you hold over me,
Is so much more than I thought it would be.
This is all too good to be true,
And I know that I am going to get hurt by you.
You say that you will make everything alright.
But you don’t realize that you are the cause of my fright.
I want to believe all the things that you say,
But I don’t want to be another sucker for you, no way.
Oh but how truly silly of me.
I’ve already fallen into your trap, clearly.
So many times I said I would not fall for you.
But that’s exactly what you’ve made me do.

Army of Melodies

As music slowly seeps into your mind,
You slip into a world undefined.
The melodies swirl like colors,
Splashed upon an artist’s canvas.
Blending to utmost purity,
Filling you with an obscure security.

Each instrument is a soldier on its own.
Put together, an army with power unknown.
Drums carry the heart beat, the lifeline,
That the others all marched to.
Perfectly synchronized in their paces,
All filling their designated places.

Like blood through veins the notes course,
Filling the air with tremendous force.
Combining itself with the beat of your heart,
You feel as if it stops, your life will to.
Nothing else but matters though.
The music in the moment is all you know.

Mistakes

Take me to the horizon where I can see the sun,
Let it wash away my worries and erase what I have done.
The light is almost here, the night is almost through,
It doesn't matter if I make it out as long as I have you.

Lets go out and see the whole world tonight,
and maybe even pretend that everything's alright.
Maybe just for now we can live out all our dreams,
We can accept the fact that reality isn't what it seems.
But when it starts to set back in and there's nothing we can do,
All i can do is watch as it tears apart all thats left of me and you.

Take me to the horizon where I can see the sun,
Let it bring to life the problems that I can not out run.
The night has lasted forever but the morning's soon in view,
It doesn't matter if I make it out as long as I have you.

Finally the dawn, I can see it start to break,
It presents and opportunity I know that I must take.
I know that I must own up to all the things I've done.
And tell you that I'm sorry for each and every one.
But no matter what I do and no matter what I say,
I know that you, like the time, are slowly slipping away.

Take me to the horizon where I can see the sun,
Let it make clear to me that my battle can't be won.
Now I know no matter what there is nothing I can do.
I don't want to make it out tonight because I know I can't have you.

Stain of a Dream

You know that moment in the morning,
Just before the light hits your eyes,
That one innocently ignorant instant,
Before all of your worries have time to actualize.

In those few warm, soporific seconds,
When your mind is still clouded with dreams,
You feel absolutely invincible.
Like a rock, you could handle all extremes.

All you want is to cling to your dreams,
Because in them everything went just right.
You want to go back to when your imagination was a bird,
And it was finally free to take full flight.

Stories and wishes that your mind concocted,
Petty lies that you unconsciously spun,
Reflections of what you desperately want.
In your dreams it can all be done.

But alas, the Man in the Moon always has to set,
And the sun as well must rise.
But for the rest of your day you can remember,
That one short moment before the light found your eyes.

Pilot's High

As close to heaven as I'll ever be,
With all the world stretched out for me to see.
The altitude clearing my mind,
All of my troubles left far behind.
Higher and higher I always press,
Trying to leave the Earth and all its distress.
The clouds and the wind and the rain,
Are not nearly enough for me to refrain,
From climbing up above it all,
Shedding my problems, away they fall.
Leaving space in my mind for only positivity.
Setting my mind finally free.
It provides a clearing in the clouds of life,
A ray of hope through the strife.
No amount of sunshine on Earth can compete,
Because it's always sunny and 37,000 feet.

Secrets' Game

Secrets, secrets are everywhere,
Secrets,secrets, not meant to share.
They fill my head and crowd my mind,
They make me sick, they make me blind.
But still I keep them safely inside.
Because it's much harder to face them than it is to hide.
Keep them hidden away where no one sees,
It's getting so hard though I'm weak in the knees,
There is so much that I want to say,
But this mask of secrets I can't just cast away.
It's all I have left to hide my shame,
So I'm forced to play the secrets' game.

Not Enough

I know that when I say this,
I am not alone.
I'm not the only that feels this way,
But rather one in many.
And in some way that makes it even worse.
No matter what I do I can't escape the masses.
How am I supposed to stand out, to make my mark?
I just get lost in the sea of other people.
Once I find something I feel I excel in,
Turns out so does everyone else.
It doesn't matter what I try anymore.
It's just never enough.
Its only my fault, I know.
I'm the one setting such high expectations.
Just once though I want to live up to them.
Just once I want to be enough.
