Tashanna Adkins Poem
It’s the slip of a name.
An accident, you claim.
It’s the breath drawing out of me,
And red is all I can see.
A deafening silence heard,
Tears fill my eyes, vision blurred.
It’s quiet like a church mouse,
Silent screaming through the house.
It’s a deafening quiet,
A heart breaking riot.
It’s the sound of your laughter,
Pretending to care right after.
Never a sincere apology,
When you do it just to hurt me.
It the excuses of a joke,
But still my heart broke.
Its tears burning down my face,
While I try to react with little grace.
The sound of a world shattered.
Promises made now tattered.
It’s the sound of goodbye coming fast,
When all you wanted was to make it last.
Trying to hide how it stung,
To hear her name roll off your tongue.
The sound of a heart break,
Deafening silence I can’t take.

Tashanna Adkins Poem
She lays awake on tear stained pillows.
He says you know I love you right?
His words don’t sound the same,
His apology insincere tonight.
Lost in her thoughts again,
It’s back to fight or flight.
The laughs have expired,
With only pain in sight.
Was it his words or his hands,
That made it all go bad?
What has changed here,
That makes her so sad?
He asks if she’s hurt,
Or are you just mad?
It’s all gone to Hell,
The love they had.

Tashanna Adkins Poem
You face the wall,
And snore through the night.
I face the window,
And pray for morning light.
You say it’s all in my head,
We’re not falling apart.
The pain is in my chest,
The breaking of a heart.
You face the wall,
Saying everything’s alright.
I face the window,
And cry through the night.
Opposite sides of the bed,
The space between us real.
Something is wrong,
We’re miles apart I feel.
But on your side,
You say everything is fine.
Please tell me why,
The view is different from mine.
You convince me I’m crazy,
From your side of the bed.
Close enough to touch,
Still worlds apart in my head.
How can it be,
So perfect on your side.
When I lay here hurting,
With no one to confide.

Tashanna Adkins Poem
You opened up to her,
And let her walk in the door.
Promised you’d never hurt me,
But I’m more broken than before.
A simple ‘I’m sorry, I ed up’
And I’m expected to forget.
Nevermind your lying,
As you continue with no regret.
I’m not allowed to be angry,
You just can’t understand.
I’m just supposed to forgive,
Place my heart back into your hand.
‘She’s just a friend’
‘Nothing to worry about’
That line alone,
Is enough to raise my doubt.
Tell me she’s no threat,
Yet you call me her name.
You don’t care how bad it hurts,
And someone has to take the blame.
We should’ve gotten passed this,
Kept it just between us.
I’m sorry our relationship,
Is not open for her to discuss!!
Maybe you didn’t cheat,
But I’m hurt just the same.
You can’t even see I’m broken,
Like to you, I’m just a game.
Seems like you don’t even care,
You completely broke my heart.
You only want her “friendship”,
Even if it tears me apart!!

Tashanna Adkins Poem
Falling in love,
To falling apart.
Always ending up,
Back at the start.
I’ll face the window,
You face the wall.
When pride is strong,
Apart we will fall.
Falling out of love,
Two hearts on the ground.
Still we get back up,
To go another round.
No need to be mad,
I knew at the start.
I fell in love,
Now I’ll fall apart.
