Piol Tiek John Poem
Son, to be a man,
You need to listen to men.
You will get experience straight from the horse's mouth about manhood.
Have more dignity and rationality with women,
It will make you a commendable son and husband.
And you need to respect your elders,
It will win you acclaim, my boy!
Have a gargantuan appetite for knowledge,
That will differentiate you from grown boys.
Son, our society loves to think of people as egocentric,
But always put your family first,
For you're respected for what you put right for your family.
Let your home be a candle sconce for the community,
For true happiness lies in the happiness of the community.
I know other men's wives appear more alluring,
But son, there must be no room for adultery,
That disrespects her husband and their relationship.
Give attention to your wife, it's only the faces that are different;
Son, all normal men can be fathers,
But not all can be dads.
So be a dad to your children, let them look up to you.

Piol Tiek John Poem
MY HUSBAND
My dearest husband
The father of my children
The man to whom I pledge allegiance
A goddess you have treated me
And I have adored you like my king
We have fought wars together and victorious we were
But what happened my husband,
We took vows to love even when we are spring chickens
You now chase over half naked girls
While I am fully naked for you
You've started receiving midnight calls from people you prefer to call " my mother's friend "
I am a woman and I am not immune from hysteria
We no longer go for a roll in the hay
For you are always tired for the last three years
But I have always held my horses
But know my husband, still waters run deep
I need a home run like any other woman
And I won't play away from home my husband
But for those girls, soon hot, soon cold
You are a law unto yourself my husband
You're now playing the field
Keep putting on a brave face
But I will stand firm in my place
I will not say uncle
The scarlet women can have you
I will not scream blue murder
For I have a stiff upper lip
You have failed to separate the wheat from the chaff
You have become a speedy lightning in breaking this family apart
And our children are the sitting ducks
My husband, you need to ameliorate yourself for your children and your wife

Piol Tiek John Poem
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I know of a place
A place so rich and fertile
A place with green trees
With the sweet scent of nature
And the beauty of wildlife
With elegant tall black men and women
The strongest people I have ever known
A place gifted with so many dialects
But with one common language of love
A place whose immense beauty
The Ades, the Deng Afrikas, the Tatas
The Piols, the Tuulas, the Aliets want to show
A place rich of cultures and traditions
Whose history is worth celebrating
A place whose citizens have one common goal
And that ultimate goal is black brotherhood
Yet, it's the very same place
Where uncle is the most used vocabulary
Uncle is the basis of employment
Uncle has won cases at the courts of law
He has covered up for murderers
Uncle has created orphans and widows
He has grabbed their land,
Leaving them homeless
A place where the youth dropout of school to pick arms
Where Night movement is still a threat to the youth
I hear they call themselves with comical names
The old school, Mob Gang, Steel Boys
With the infamous slogan “Panga gatar rhas”
I have watched them spoil their future
And they're hopeless for tomorrow
I know of a place
Where James Lado, a twelve year old boy
Cannot spend thirty minutes without smoking cigarettes
He sleeps in the clubs by beer bottles
Lado has run away from home
And Deng, that Sa’uud will kill you ya aku
A place where Kiden leaves the
house at 7:00am
Only to return at midnight
Too drunk to even untie her shoes
Her children are starving and thirsty
But Listen pays no attention
When I hear Taata cry, I say unto her
Cry no more Taata, for we no longer see the redness of blood
I have heard the women of this place lament
Mwonydiea acha Nyan wee Kek abeer koor nyiin apyea
I have heard the children cry
Baba achi ook nyang nyinn ngongich
Ye nga bi ook lok yath panabun
Abuk is the shisha lady who wakes up at midnight to smoke
While Duku is dead asleep on the bed
I know of a place, where the cynical politicians blackmail the citizens
A place where the peace negotiators prolong the talks
For they will be unemployed when the peace arrives
A place where the national army survives on charcoal sales
A place where you will be grabbed by the neck, for daring to say the trutth
A place where the bullets, are the unwanted music to the ears
The leaders invite war for the youth
To them, power is worth more than countless lives
The citizens have killed the past, And there is no light at the end of the tunnel
And that place happens to be my beautiful country, South Sudan

Piol Tiek John Poem
Doomed!
She wailed and whined hopeless
As her child laid down helpless
But they simply stared
While others jeered
She is accused
And her child is abused
A witch she is
He's dead for a cause not his
They lamented
As she was tormented
Hit her with that stone
For she is better gone
They said angrily
As she cried sorrowfully
Everyone turned on her
But they went far
She was framed
And tamed
They all knew her innocence
But that was no essence
For they were paid
To get her laid

THE ALIEN
I am an alien
I live in a world where aggression and brutality are the codes
The people of this world find fun in watching people slowly lose their breath
These people give more respect to cattle lives and less respect to human's
They conduct mass killings for cattle
The people of this world don't marry
They buy wives, two hundred cows make a good purchase
These people park V8 cars in grass thatched houses
The people of my world would use that V8 money for development
But what do I know, am just and alien
These people have large fertile lands
But they still starve
The youth have shamelessly put all their energy in gambling games
The children and the elderly are malnourished
Their leaders are playing bullet games for the chair
The people of this country have taken sides for a cause they know not
They're sleeping in refugee camps
While the "Big boys" are having fun and accumulating wealth at their expense
The people of this world don't know they have the power to make things better
But what do I know, I am just an alien.
These people don't value their nation
They're divided by tribes and clans
They're hypocrites
They call themselves "brother" in foreign lands
But a foe they call themselves in their land.
You heard me right, foe as in enemy,
Not Friends Of the Earth.
They're busy raping their mothers
And castrating their brothers
They consider that as a way to subdue other tribes,
But I find it barbaric and inhumane
But what do I know, am just an alien.

WHY I LOVE YOU
I like your smile
It feels like a sun rising on a cold rainy day whenever you smile
But that's not why I love you
I like your kiss
Because no flavor of toothpaste tastes tastes better than the odour of your mouth
But that's not why I love you
I like your eyes
Because in them I see my worth
But that's not why I love you
I love making love to you
Because that's the best way to use my energy
But that's not why I love you
I like your hugs
Because I can never feel cold in your hands even in winter
But that's not why I love you
I like the way you say you love me
Because you've taught me to love myself
But that's not why I love you
I like your company
Because you never let me miss anything when you're around me
But that's not why I love you
I love you for being you
You've never felt the need to be someone else when with me
And that's why I love you

Piol Tiek John Poem
I told you I was neither a bee's knees,
Nor cat's whiskers
But you thought I was sex on the stick
And you yessed to death
Falling for me was dancing with death
So, why remorse now?
You had to make head or tail of me
You're now picking holes
You now get chagrin on the sight of me
You think am so dreary
You think am too serious in everything
I was a happy flea in a doghouse
I wasn't born to the purple as you
I was common as an old shoe
But you buttered me up
You compelled me to be in character
I forgot I was a man on the streets
Yet you still put my name in mud
You now think am no use to man or beast
I gave it my all I could
But I had not a cat in hell's chance
The relationship became your pain in the neck
You started playing away from home
But still, you remorse over me??

MELANCHOLY
We hit it off on our blind date
Eye candy you thought I was
A bit of fluff I thought you were
Remember the eye sex,
Sweeter than honey it was!
I cottoned on love
And you received it with fever pitch
I loved you to bits, and so did you
Remember how I felt you up,
I totally loved your submission!
You ed up everything
You started playing the field
To you, all we had was fanny Adams
I had the hots for you
My all I gave it.
I forgot I was common and garden
And you were above the salt
I should have kept my powder dry
If you love me,love my dog
Even the fact that I was below the salt

Piol Tiek John Poem
From a distance, I watched you walk gently
From a distance, I loved you romantically
From a distance, I dreamt about you
I looked up daily to see you, but the clouds obtract
I opened my nostrils to smell your scent, but the wind brought in a foul smell
I stretched my hands to touch you, but you're miles away
Because I am in love with the moon
