Allen Beilschmidt Sr. Poem
softer then cotton
warm as a hot cup of tea
cat purrs beside me

calm before the storm.

Allen Beilschmidt Sr. Poem
December's harshness in the air
can never quite compare to the ice
inside your eyes-your stoic lack
of apathy.
So now your gone,
and what have you left me?
warm wine three quarters
left untouched;
a faded photo down the hall;
drab dishes stacked in
stained grey cabinets.
The oaken table left
unfinished beside a
bare and sterile wall.
Do not return again, my love;
. To many chilly days have been
absorbed into -to many frigid nights.

warm breeze eventide
fireflies light pink roses
crickets sing a song.

silent as a hush
tranquil as a summer star
death knows nothing now.

winter snow so warm
In a dream-in a vision
Awake now-cold

Allen Beilschmidt Sr. Poem
At times I am a dusty path
where soles of souls tramp over me.
Sometimes the helpless Lilly
bent backwards by a heavy breeze
that snaps the stem so easily.
But the times I am the tall majestic tree;
opalescent leaves full of fire;
then I am who I truly am-
my glory blazing brilliantly.

Allen Beilschmidt Sr. Poem
There is a whisper through the wind
a sort of haunting
yet charming thing.
A quiet flutter
from an old oak tree
while cricket's
perfect rhythm
replenish the land
I sit by placidly
as if seized by a dream,
closing my eyes:
I wonder
and wonder
and wonder
but I'll never know

Allen Beilschmidt Sr. Poem
Now is always now.
that now is now gone;
here comes a new now
(and so it goes.)
My Italian Aunt
once told me:
'"Allen, whatever you do,
don't grow old."
She was in her eighties then;
bad back, eyes gone dim,
kidneys in serious lack.
Like a withered tree
she shriveled up
and blew away.
I took her words to wisdom
always knowing that
it can't be done.

hibiscus all around me
tears another day.
