Charley Mahre Poem
Locked up in a hotel
stronghold, dog leash
dog pound
every nook and cranny downtown
don't high tale it to the gutter
six feet under in the ground

Charley Mahre Poem
Each tiny detail
is wrapped up
in the catastrophe
spread out
cracked
if it were shattered
broken
a mess on the floor
wear your boots
protect yourself
somehow
from the pain
you'd feel if you were
to walk barefoot
across the floor
I envision this,
no emotion showing
he steps back
to admire it all

Charley Mahre Poem
It's crashing
my heart trembles
leaps out of place
searching for crystal
diamonds in the city streets
his breath melts ice like crumbs
frost drops to the ground like ashes
keep listening to the rumble of his voice
lightening that crashes
the whirlwinds of violence
telling me which path to take

Charley Mahre Poem
You told me no one could ever replace you
in my life
and for awhile I thought that to be true
until one day I woke up alone
realizing
I replaced you
I can love myself
with out you

Charley Mahre Poem
My thoughts race through our moments together so fast
your no where near my future only in my past
it was over
tried so hard knowing from the beginning
it wouldn't last

Charley Mahre Poem
Kisses of an enemy
fly at me
their all around
iron bars sharpen
cut right into me
friends wound
I'd rather have pain around
my soul is free
though it never leaves the ground
