Brigitte Pace Poem
I've been doing some soul searching and it's time to wake up
Nasty comments on Facebook when religion issues come up
Really starting to suck!
I highly doubt that the management are up to any good
This morning I woke to a photo of ISIS no Robin Hood
I once wrote that the Internet can be a terrible place
Now I am convinced it is the beginning of the end for the human race
Before the Internet existed emotions ran raw
But they were contained to one single shore
Is this healthy for anyone at all?
Facebook is making the money and the owner is having a ball
Sadly a lot of people do not realize this at all
When something diabolical happens who will take the fall?

Brigitte Pace Poem
I am a basset hound and I love to play
I can run and jump all day
I really love magic and tricks
I also love chocolate bics
Yummy! They are so good
I would eat a packet a day if I could
My name is Lady and here is a story all about me
I'm a funny looking dog you see:
Lady was home alone
All she had was her green plastic bone
Her owners had gone out for the day
And Lady really wanted to play
Miserable, she lay on the ground with her long floppy ears
With watery eyes, it seemed as though she was about to burst into tears
Suddenly she perked up when she heard a squeaking sound coming from the house
Lady became excited, she hoped it was a mouse
She barked out loud and ran towards the sound
Lady was such a clever basset hound
With her long nose, she sniffed out the little mouse in his hiding place
The whole morning turned into a playful ‘dog and mouse’ chase!
The mouse was too fast for her and escaped through a small crack in the wall
He was terrified of this funny looking dog who stood two feet tall
Exhausted, Lady flopped down in her basket to rest
She had tried her very, very best
She closed her eyes and had a long nap
And dreamt that she managed to squeeze through the scary dog flap
When Lady woke up, her throat felt dry
She needed a gallon of water to drink and she alone knew why!
The sun was shining and it was hot
She found her bowl and gulped down the lot
Lady looked at the new dog flap
She lifted up one of her paws and gave it a sharp tap
She took a chance and pushed herself through the gap
Relief flooded through her, she had made it out of the flap
Out in the sun
It was time for more fun
Lady headed to the beach
It wasn’t far, within her reach
Calm blue sea with the tiniest of waves
Grottos and amazing caves
Lady’s paw marks were all over the sand
She loved to play by the sea and on land
Cool air blew around her as she splashed around in the sea
What a great feeling it was to be free!
The aroma of food was all around
She was always hungry, this hilarious hound
An ice-cream van was parked nearby
Lady drooled and just stood by
A young couple spotted the little dog sitting down on her own
Her sad brown eyes caught their attention, they each bought her a cone
Lady wished that she could shout
She clenched both cones in her mouth
She licked off the chocolate ice-cream and wolfed down the rest

“Place this cloak around you and blink six times
You will then hear three chimes
When your body begins to shudder
You’ll be invisible to your own mother!”

Brigitte Pace Poem
Bubbles rose from my mouth
I was underwater, I wanted to shout
Lifeless bodies floated past me
Gutted, I realized that I was in the sea
I struggled to get the seat belt off me
And swam up to the surface where metal and smoke
Made my lungs burn and I choked
Flames rose in the air
Bodies charred everywhere
I closed my eyes and said a prayer
I would not give in to this burning slayer
I was desperate to survive
I was still alive
Helicopter blades hovered in the sky
I waved my arms and began to cry
The helicopter was moving away
I was going to die, I had no say
A rope ladder dangled from above
I saw my rescuers faces filled with love
And then the strangest sight
A white dove flapping its wings in a shining light
I felt at peace and closed my eyes
And when I opened them, I saw the sunrise

Brigitte Pace Poem
Something like this could only ever happen to me
I’ve boarded a plane and flown to the wrong country
Alitalia decided to strike while we were in mid air
That was the end of my first love affair
Here in Albania things don’t look great
I was always slim but here I've lost weight
Managed to get out of this terrible place
You should see the colors of the spots on my face
I start my vacation at long last
I fall in a pot hole and end up in a cast
The Italians love me so
They’ve stolen my passport and I have nowhere to go.

Google, Amazon, Yahoo and Bing
Search engines with algorithms that swing
Keywords, rankings each tell their own unique tale
of failure or success, with every new sale
Twitter, Google and Facebook matter
Social networking to increase relevant chatter
The Internet is a world of its own
Clicking on links, a habit now grown
Website owners pay for impressions
Others make video sessions
Promotion and advertising are in the lead
Interesting news delivered as a feed
Whatever the topic be it books or crooks
The Internet delivers all of these, disguised beneath good looks
Sex, drugs, pedophiles
Lunatics searching for juveniles
Harmful beings are on the loose
Bullies are trying to tighten the noose!

Brigitte Pace Poem
A wise person wrote be careful what you post on your Facebook wall
A potential employer checked my daughter’s and did call
He was impressed with what he saw and read
That is precisely what he said
It’s every parent’s duty in life to teach their child
To be savvy in life, not to act wild
Should your child’s friend post garbage on their wall
Tell your teen to delete it, in the eventuality of a job interview call
The possibilities of landing a job are greater when kids use their brains
Breaking them free from their “so called” friends chains

Brigitte Pace Poem
Why must she die?
How many times can you suffer from a broken heart?
I try to take control but I am slowly falling apart
It used to be a relationship turned sour that would make me cry
Now my pet of seven years has advanced cancer and will soon die
I've shed many tears since I received this awful news
I try to picture myself in her shoes
Poor baby I love her so much
How I'm going to miss her and her soft touch
I wake up every morning and keep her close to me
She is so faithful, as trusting as can be
This is a big blow and I need to muster all my courage to be with her to the end
I don't want to say goodbye to my very best friend.

Brigitte Pace Poem
My future looked bleak
I was extremely weak
Riddled with cancer, my spirit was giving up
Until a friend came to visit me and told me literally to 'shut up'
Chemotherapy had made me worse
It was not a medicine but a curse
My friend cared for me for days on end
Wrote e-mails to every cancer Specialist she could send
One replied, he was eager to help
I let out a half hearted yelp
He studied my case intensively
There was a cure to be cancer free
It was expensive as to be expected
But he too had once been infected
He understood my pain
Refused to use it to his gain
He paid for my surgery
Even for my recovery
Today, I am a healthy man
Now, I too make it a point to help everybody that I can!

Brigitte Pace Poem
If I were Prime Minister
The air would be pure
Greenery would dominate
And nobody would be poor
Health would be a priority & Malta would flourish
Our land fully nourished
The Sandy beaches will light up across the Island
When the Moonlight hovers over its warm golden sands
We'll hear the sound of horses' hooves & that of a drum From Musical bands we''ll listen to the people hum
Couples will walk by hand in hand
Tourism will increase
Year after year
People flocking to visit to enjoy the Summer days & nights
In our beautiful Malta, our paradise
We'll hear the clinking of glasses
As People Celebrate life
All races welcome here
Girl or boy
Malta will be safe, there'd be nothing to fear
Criminals will be sent far far away
And we will live happily every single day!
