Animal Noises

Ta wit ta woo said the owl to the wren
Cluck cluck cluck replied the dear old hen
Woof woof woof the doggie did bark
All these animals are leaving their mark

The horse let out a very long neigh
A cow replied moo is all he could say
Several ducks on the water said quack
To which the bees sent buzzing back

Meow was the only sound of a cat
Screeching response of a wily old bat
I hope you find these animal noises a joke
The frog does as he responded with a croak

Winter's Day In Paris

Crazy winter's day in Paris when the snow falls
Kids all around throw to each other snowballs
The Eiffel Tower has a backdrop of snow
Residents and tourists have coffee to go

I walk on the Avenue Charles -de-Gaulle
All the time the snow continues to fall
No fashion parade on the Champs Elysees today
Too much snow has unfortunately got in the way

Motorists in their Citroëns still drive too fast
Walkers like me prepare for another icy blast
Where are the artists in Montmartre I wonder
Painting in the snow would be a terrible blunder

I arrive at my destination not a moment too soon
Wishing for the warmth and sunshine of June
So it's off with my coat as I prepare my meal
A winter's day in Paris is for sure one big deal

A Grouchy and Grumpy Husband

My husband is really grouchy and grumpy
Only comes alive when we have rumpy pumpy
Watches football on TV with beer in hand
Offside rule is something I don't understand

My husband's interest in me is on the wain
What can I do so he notices me again ?
Cook him a nice meal might do the trick
Knowing my luck he would end up ill and sick

I wonder what makes him grumpy so
Maybe it's the way the world is I don't know
Until then I pray he snaps out of it really soon
After all we celebrate our anniversary in June

Rich Man Poor Man

How terribly and awfully English was he
Stopped everything for his afternoon tea
Crumpets for his breakfast covered with jam
Sandwiches for a light lunch mustard and ham

He lived in a mansion in the country somewhere
Butlers to dress him and barbers to cut his hair
A rich man was he not particularly pleasant
Out each day shooting for game and pheasant

So onto dinner he would have some beef tonight
Had to be cooked just so and served just right
While the poor man sleeps in a shop doorway
This rich man was living more than okay

He hasn't done a days work since he was born
Enough to make one feel anger and scorn
Doesn't give a damn for the plight of the poor
If only he did he'd be a better person for sure

Alexa and the Lazy Man

Alexa does everything for this lazy man
Like putting on the TV or opening a can
Poor Alexa really hates his commanding voice
However he's in control so she has no choice

One day things for this man did change
The reply given by Alexa was certainly strange
When he asked Alexa for the local weather
Her reply was I won't give it to you never

He then asked her the latest football score
Alexa was silent and to him did ignore
So Alexa and this man went their separate ways
He wasn't lazy anymore and she went on holidays

For I'M a Londoner Now

Found my way round London like a boss
Know the best way to Piccadilly and Kings Cross
For I'm a Londoner now
Seen the sights Big Ben and the like
Taken a cycle journey on a Boris bike
For I'm a Londoner now

I've been on the tubes and on a red bus
Got into Harrods without any fuss
For I'm a Londoner now
Seen the Arsenal play and the Spurs too
Chelsea and Fulham I still must do
For I'm a Londoner now

I have ate jellied eels in the East end
Learnt the lingo my mucker is a friend
For I'm a Londoner now
I had a good time seeing a West end show
London dear reader is the city to go
For I'm a Londoner now

My Mum

Words are forming and swirling in my head
A quick little poem before I go to bed
Written for a lady who is so special to me
Always has been and always will be

Loving,caring,sharing are adjectives three
Describes this lady so wonderfully and perfectly
Without her I would not be here today
I love my mum more than these words can say

So now its time for bed and to sleep and rest
Thinking to myself I have been truly blessed
To have a mum so very sweet and kind
Will forever be in my heart and mind

Man of Mystery

Who is that man who carries a case ?
Thin in the body long in the face
Where I wonder is his destination
See him every day at the station

Maybe he's a banker or works in finance
Is he I ponder looking for romance
Always head down on a busy train
Tomorrow he will be doing the same again

He leaves the train at exactly 8.22
Leaving me to think what I should do
Tomorrow perhaps I will venture and say
Hello mystery man you make my day

Cuban Adventures

He walked down the high street in tropical Havana
Where he spotted a bar named the Copa Cabana
The weather was hot he could do with a drink
An ice cold beer and some time to think

However did he finish up in a country like Cuba ?
Was down to a jazz musician who plays the tuba
The jazz man told him of those fancy cigars
To watch and admire the old and vintage cars

He liked Cuba and would stay another week
The night-time dancing was certainly cheek to cheek
One thing though he really wanted to know
How did this country ever be ruled by Castro

Sister Ann Roza

She asked the armed forces please don't shoot
A lady of high resolve and definitely so resolute
Kneeling before these men who carried guns
Without doubt she was the bravest of all nuns

Prepared to die to save the protestors lives
Freedom and peace is what this nun strives
The nun turned to the forces and started to cry
Protesters are innocent she said they shouldn't die

Sister Ann Roza is a most wonderful human being
I hope you reading this are with me agreeing
Her remarkable story is so poignant and true
The people of Myanmar should not forget you
