Done

Sinking deeper and deeper
No help coming
My only rope is frayed and made of words
Nothing solid to grip
All alone in the muck and mire
Frantically splashing my arms and legs
to find my way out
But there is none
All my pleading, wailing and prayers
seem to go unanswered...
I am done.

It's the Heart

It's not the walls,
It's not the floors.
It's not the windows,
It's not the doors.

It's not the end -
But it's a start...
Because it's not the structure,
It's the heart!

Free Falling

Free falling - wish I could stop
Trying to find my way back to the top

Fearful of what awaits me down there
Gasping and gulping, need a breath of fresh air

Praying each day, singing songs of hope
But no rescue in sight, not even a rope

Lower I go, when will it end?
But I know somewhere below
is a blanket of friends

Writers Block

Want to write but the words won't come
A part of me has become numb
From heaps of troubles and problems galore
It just seems I cannot write anymore

Challenges pounding me into the ground
Life can really get you down
Fortunes can help to lift you up
But there aren't enough to fill a cup

I want so much to feel light again
But all I can do is to keep asking when
I pray and hope and try to trust
But that's not so easy when we are but dust

Maybe one day the sun will shine bright
But for now, there is this internal light
I really do not know what our future will be
One day at a time, and I will see

Please help me to keep faith and stay strong
Do not allow this to take too long
I need to find my way back home
Please don't let this be fixed in stone

Though we are but dust, we all feed
on the search for comfort that we all need
I haven't a clue as to how
But please, God, let it be now

A Gift

My neighbor came by
we had a great time
she had me laughing so much
Had not felt so good
for such a long time
when it seemed like
we had lost touch

She has a gift
to make someone smile
she is full of warmth and love
One can clearly see
she is a gift
from our Father, in Heaven above
