Love Is

Love is patient, kind, forgiving
It doesn’t keep track
It doesn’t keep points
It’s the gentle whisper
Calm, reassuring

Don’t want to be mad at you
Don’t want to hate you
Don’t know why others want me to

Their words lit a fire
They smudged out your light
Comforted in what they preached
Their poison gnawing at me
Everything love is not

Your gentle whisper
Patient, kind, forgiving
Love is

Worth Waiting For

Everyone whispered their slander
I believed
Everyone whispered your temper
I believed
Everyone whispered be careful around you
I believed

Slowly, I felt your kindness
I couldn’t believe
Slowly, I felt your humility
I couldn’t believe
Slowly, I saw you
I couldn’t believe

Slowly drawn to you like a magnet
My heart saying I was wrong
Now here I sit, confused
Wishing I didn’t believe
Hoping you will open the door
You are worth waiting for

The Blessing

Purple hued sunrises
The tide’s soft kiss
The day’s cool breeze
A warm cozy night
The silver moon’s glow
Miracles when we learn to see

Ode To My Car

The Wonder Mobile broke today
Of course it would happen
Why wouldn’t it
4 cylinders running on 3
Getting out to push probably much faster
Poor little Corolla

It had a hard life.
Neglected some love’n
It pees all over, grumbles when it starts
Brakes kind of funny, but the horn is loud
Might not stop on a dime
But you will hear me coming

Washed twice in 11 years
Driven around the block to go next door
Years of waking up in wonder
Will my car start today?
Am I catching the bus today?
It all caught up to me today

Maybe I will drive to the Ferrari lot
Trade it in, what can I get
Maybe I will humble myself
Fix the Wonder Mobile
Give it some love’n
And wash it a third time

=======
True story, my car really did break today.

My Escape

The pin holes of night
Crickets sing the mountain’s song
The stream’s gentle hush
