The Beauty of You

The Beauty Of You

As rare as a butterfly in the snow
Or maybe a weed that will not grow
Perhaps a candle light in the rain
Perchance a baby born without any pain
The unlikely chance of a rainbow
On a bright sunshiny day all aglow
All these things I find rare and true
When I think of the beauty of you

Fancy a morning glory so bright
Blooming in the middle of the night
Or the unlikelihood of leaves turning green
In the middle of a cold winter scene
A child without any candy on hand
Can you picture a beach without any sand
All these things I find rare and true
When I think of the beauty of you

Can you imagine a horse that didn't run
Or a circus where there was no fun
Ever seen a wedding with no tears
Or a soldier gone to war with no fear
No list of rarities would be complete
And it sure would not be half as sweet
Nor would it be half as rare and true
If it did not include the beauty of you

Church Bells

Church Bells

Do you recall the church bells ring?
When Sunday morning it would fall
Oh, the sweet joy that they would bring
Much pleasure from something so small

The steeple standing there so tall
For a small boy such a great thing
I remember standing in awe
Do you recall the church bells ring?

It's a dream to which I would cling
The man that pulled the rope and all
To look up and see the bell swing
When Sunday morning it would fall

With ritual I was enthralled
My footsteps were now full of spring
As nearer the church I would draw
Oh the sweet joy that they would bring

Sound filled the air, floated on wings
At 10 the old man didn't stall
The little choir began to sing
Much pleasure from something so small

I recall tracks thru the snowfall
Walking thru the creek in the spring
By the sound of bells I was drawn
To hear stories about the King
Do you recall?

The River

THE RIVER

You give me water I may drink
That I may never thirst again
You clear my mind that I may think
That I may know you as my friend

I hear the living waters run
I feel I've found the missing link
I feel the warmth of your dear Son
You give me water I may drink

In peace I hear the waters song
Sings sweetly to me in the wind
It makes me feel like I belong
That I may never thirst again

It brings peaceful joy to my mind
When troubles bring me to the brink
It is the sweetest joy I find
You clear my mind that I may think

It's my greatest honor for sure
Always will be to very end
You cared and knocked upon my door
That I may know you as my friend

When at the gates, what will I think?
That river from the throne of grace
Be there faster than eye can blink
And once more I'm sure I can say
You give me water to drink

It's Like a Rainbow Flying Over

It’s Like A Rainbow Flying Over

Trouble on every hand
Things we don’t understand
Sickness and pain
Crying in the pouring rain
But we can ease the load
As we walk down this road
Love has such power
It’s like a rainbow flying over

When we reach the end
It’s so good to have friends
Those that really care
And ease the burdens we bear
God knows what’s best
In Him we find rest
Love has such power
It’s like a rainbow flying over

God’s promises are true
They comfort me and you
Above all the noise
Listen for His voice
Lift up your eyes
To that city in the sky
Love has such power
It’s like a rainbow flying over

Let us be kind to each other
It’s like a rainbow flying over
We’ll make someone’s day
With the kind words we say
Lend a helping hand
Any time that you can
Love has such power
It’s like a rainbow flying over

Sorrow Destroyed

Sorrow Was Destroyed

The morning was sad
The sky full of clouds
Heart wept in sorrow
My eyes cried out loud
The wind blew so hard
Sounded just like pain
Leaves fell on sidewalk
And drowned in the rain

Tried hard to be strong
To sing in the sun
Voice was filled with grief
To hide I must run
Snifling child afraid
With tears overflowed
Sorrow I had not known
Nor did I want to know

I knelt in darkness
Sun began to shine
His touch on my face
Like father of mine
Heart that was heavy
Now filled with much joy
Danced in falling rain
Sorrow was destroyed

Montgomery

Montgomery

Leave her here upon the hillside amongst the trees
And the markers and flowers where the dove did flee
The peaceful river flows by and the dogwood blooms
Where breathlessly she sleeps in the midst of my gloom
My tears only disturb the sweet scene of her rest
The leafs are at their richest, the sky at its best
The earth at its sweetest, its leaves of gold and red
Are falling ever so softly all around her bed
Let me go home and leave her in her estate
Without a tear; and not looking back at the gate

Oh let me go back home where she will be no more
Step up on the porch and slowly open the door
There’ll be no sound of her voice; no smile from her face
But her song will go on and flowers in her place,
Will beautifully smile and so gently ease my pain
She is with me still; even through the pouring rain
And though tears come again, from my eyes they bloom
And my heart grieves in silence in my darkened room
It is all in heaven’s plan till He comes again
To me it’s darkness; it’s morning to her and Him

Her Voice

Her Voice

I remember her voice you see
It sounded so sweet to me
And when she used it to sing
Oh, the joy it would bring
Her words were always kind
A sweeter voice you could never find
I remember things she would say
I'm thinking about her today

Though that's been years ago
It's still with me don't you know
I can hear her from miles away
Though she be where the angels play
Her voice seems to float on the air
Today I thought I felt her brush my hair
Her beautiful song shall forever be
The sweetest part of my memory

Oh, I guess she is really singing now
Way up there beyond all the clouds
I close my eyes and listen to hear
That sweet voice once more on my ear
Her sweet memory I carry in my heart
And I surely know it shall never depart
Then one sweet day I shall hear her again
And this time I will happily be joining in
